Thank you Town for today. My lad enjoyed himself, the weather was nice, and we won. He wants to go again. I think we have gained a new fan! He wants to play for us when he grows up, he loves dribbling and has got a mean right foot so I recon he should be playing instead of Bennett come Tuesday 😆 im glad you all had a nice time

Get him in Block 19, he'll be bored s**tless anywhere else.
Lots of new songs to learn and little ones are sure to be fascinated by the way home and away fans use sign language to communicate.
There's also the incessant, migraine-inducing drum. So if he does start whining you won't be able to hear him anyway.
It's win-win!

Following on...I see there is an U7 team. Do any of you know how my lad could be considered? Better finding a local team and playing with mates from a school. My Grandson was ‘spotted’ and invited to join under 12’s team but didn’t enjoy it (although he was a town fan) poor coaching and the wrong type of pressure plus away game all over the country. Even at a young age travel to Fleetwood one weekend and Blackpool the next. Every academy has to recruit about 20 players in each age group 1 or 2 might be good enough but you have to have a team. If he is in a team and has shown talent already just maybe but personally play with his mates from school….

Me and the big lad (now 6 and half) are going to the Port Vale game. It will be his third game, and in our current form it should be a good one! Fingers crossed. He still thinks he's a Liverpool fan, hopefully we can change that on the 11th! In other news, he's progressing well with his football coaching. Town Ladies midfielder Paris Schofield has been in attendance recently! I'm trying to egg my lad into asking her about playing for Town

Well we survived it. He kept referring to Town as 'your team'... and told me off foŕ lifting him up whenever we scored. Glad he got to see 5 goals and a win!
But the swearing during the minutes silence, the mini-pitch invasion where a Vale fan got held with his face in the dirt by the police, flare, and the guys directly behind us f'ing and blinding has kinda put me off taking him again.
Still thinks he's a Liverpool fan! But if that match didn't convince him then not sure what will!

They grow up so quick that he'll soon be so grown up he'll be making vlogs of the matches like the young lad from Vale. I'd say he's a good role model who shows you can witness all those things, but it doesn't make you like that.
Yesterday he learnt life lessons that the police are ok, but they clamp down straight away if you transgress, that, unlike his dad, some people with limited vocabularies can't stop themselves swearing and that those who interupt a minutes silence or throw smoke bombs are idiots and might as well be wearing donkey ears.

Maybe he'll like having a flag waiting for him to wave (and joining in with the pre-match display)?

Still thinks he's a Liverpool fan! But if that match didn't convince him then not sure what will! I started in block 18 with my two grandsons when they were about 6/7…. They both supported Man U as kids but I never let them wear another clubs kit / hat/ scarf at a Shrewsbury match and I buy them a Shrewsbury shirt every year….Moved to 14 due to the language, not that bad but kids start chanting at home ‘who the f in hell are you’ doesn’t go down too well… Moved to Safe Standing when it opened and they still come every week. They’re now 18/19, proper Shrewsbury fans Home and Away and come with me and my other son but you need to choose either South Stand or Family Stand….I did say one was approached to play for Shrewsbury when he was 11 and did for a couple of years but it’s a big commitment travelling all over the country, not well organised then, coaches were poor, shouted at them if they lost and said things like I’ve got to go home and tell my wife we lost. Out of every age group one or two may make it past 15/16 the rest just make up the group. In the end he decided to stop and hasn’t played football since. Much better with a local team at least til he’s 12/13 in my opinion although it will have changed now for the better I hope.
