Surely the Club will give him the chance to say farewell by introducing him to the fans at half time next season.
I'm sure that he would be more than happy to do the draw for the Golden Gamble too!

For me there should be a testimonial game for Dave so we can give him a proper send off next season. He deserves a proper goodbye from the club and he’s earnt it. It would be nice to have the sale of the tickets go towards his charity too.

True Salop legend. It wasn't the fairytail return we had all hoped but it nice to see him in blue and Amber once again.
Looking back leaving him out of the play off final due to him not signing another contract was a low point in Salop history. Who knows what would happened with him on the pitch.

The two biggest disappointments in terms of players during the season were Edwards and Williams. Really expected to get two exciting seasons out of Edwards and Williams to kick on and become a valuable asset. Wish Dave all the best. Sadly the fairytale never quite happened. Think the same thing may happen if we were to bring Joe Hart back in the future. You still need the fitness levels in lower league football.

Has it said he’s retired??
Think he was unlucky to not get a bit more game time this season. Still looked relatively fit and did more than others but completely understand why he wouldn’t have been offered a contract with us for next season.
Great professional. Great servant and ambassador for the club. Always speaks well in the press. Obviously will be back as a fan but fully expect (and hope) to see him back at the club other in another role- whether it be coach, manager or upstairs.

Perhaps we can get him to stick around after the match and clean the toilets under the West stand too? Let’s not spoil the lad... I’d be in favour of a proper send off given the circumstances to be honest... a testimonial would be more appropriate than parading around an empty ground at half time

In the nicest sense, I wouldn’t mind if he never set foot in the club again, in an official capacity at least. He’s too good to be some kind of coach, liable to be kicked out if a new manager doesn’t want him there. He doesn’t owe us anything, if he wants to come along as a fan that’s more than good enough. As mentioned above... has he actually retired? I remember him saying he was going to retire as a Town player (although he later was open to carrying on), but he never entirely closed the book, should something interesting turn up.

Fans can be fickle, as we know. My mate was a work colleague of Dave’s dad and sometimes we’d meet for a pre match pint.
One time Wolves were on the midday match with Dave in the line up. The comments from Town fans around us about how crap Dave was were embarrassing.
Anyway, good luck Dave, a career that included the Premiership and International football is something to be proud of.

I think his playing style led to a lot of his injuries, he didnt hold back like some
a pre season friendly with wolves could be a fitting farewell but somehow I dont see it happening

I remember the FA Cup match vs Wolves, left the ground very late as I’d lost my car keys in the goal celebration 😂 ... as it happened I was passing the players entrance as Dave was leaving, and thought it rude not to ask for a photo! Only people there were a group of Wolves fans who’d hung around with the sole intention of seeing Dave to say hello, he still meant a lot to them.

I thought I read that the club wishes him well on his retirement. My mistake. Video does feel very much like a retirement video though! Possibly he is awaiting to see if anything emerges

I read that as he is open for one last season somewhere and then hang up his boots. He hasn’t said he’s retired, would be interesting to see how he would get along in League 2.

Choosing a new Pope is a lengthy process. When they have chosen they should evacuate Burslem and burn the whole place down to signify the appointment - would look so much better.

A testimonial would be too much in my opinion, a friendly with Wolves is probably more suitable but I can't help but feel there would be problems with Wolves bringing two thousand into Shrewsbury town centre.
