If the speed of vaccine roll-out is as bad as some posters on this thread have been claiming, I'm amazed to hear that anyone has been near a needle. The speed of the vaccine roll out is never going to be as fast as we would like it however fast its done. If it only a fortnight to cover the whole population there would be moans that it should have only taken a week. I think they are doing really well so far, and will likely only increase the speed. Reports from other countries on the continent suggest they are way behind us here in the UK. But then some folks will just moan at anything and everything this government are doing right now.

Quite impressed at the speed of the rollout myself.

The roll out is going well, but on the law of averages something had to be done right eventually

Compared to the rest of Europe our roll out of the vaccine has been pretty darn good.
The bitter truth is this new variant discovered in Kent absolutely annihilated all of their modelling so everything happened too late and a lot of people will die.
BUT - we could be out of this faster.
Germany were hailed as being on top of it but they're approaching 50,000 deaths.
France got hit hard but they have only vaccinated a couple of guinea pigs.
By the end of 2021 we'll be able to judge how we did.

Pilch , where’s my bloody letter you useless tool . Instead of booting all and sundry on here concentrate on your job . My letter’s probably in the bottom of your mailbag together with a copy of Readers Wives circa 1970’s and uneaten sandwiches . Pull your finger out man , my 13 yr old grandson will probably have his vaccine before me thanks to you .

Here's a pic from the North Wales resort gallery, seems quite apt for a Covid world. I suppose the dog could be the great-great-great..... grandparent of the dog that so savaged Pilch that he had to take up valuable hospital resources at this time of crisis....

I was thinking that the Peter B you mention would be Peter Broadbent, there’s a photo of him in his biography driving an old Ford van in which he made deliveries from his grocery shop in the summer. I doubt if a player like, say, Mason Mount has to have a summer job. Interesting seeing the Manchester United players, I used to see Denis Law frequently as our daughters were at the same school and Stuart Houston looks like he’s living in one of the 1930s semi’s that make up most of the south Manchester suburbs.

Definitely no grand mansions for top players in those days. Loved the picture of Harry boy and Sandra . I am pretty certain the house in the picture isn’t their Sandbanks property which I believe they have only recently sold . There is a dog in the picture too ....... surely not ?😂😂😉

seems a bit harsh but then i dont know how many people have been vaccinated, i know of a number of people who have had there vaccination at the education center by shrewsbury hospital and oswestry orthopedic hospital. just out of curiosity has any of the GP's or pharmacies started giving vaccinations yet in shrewsbury? www.shropshirestar.com/news/health/coronavirus-covid19/2021/01/21/health-bosses-defend-pace-of-too-slow-vaccine-rollout/"It comes after Telford & Wrekin Council’s leader Shaun Davies said the programme had got off to a “slow start” in the county. He also says counties with lower infection rates have actually had higher numbers of vaccines delivered already."

montreal.ctvnews.ca/quebec-vaccine-plan-may-be-rethought-after-troubling-israeli-data-says-provincial-adviser-1.5275234"We compared 200,000 people above the age of 60 that were vaccinated,” the outlet quoted Balicer as saying. “We a comparison group of 200,000 people, same age, not vaccinated, that were matched to this group on various variables,” he said. Scientists then compared the daily rate of positive COVID-19 cases between the two groups. They found at first, unsurprisingly, there was no difference in the first two weeks after the shot—the vaccine takes about two weeks to kick in. After that, starting at 14 days post-vaccination, “a drop of 33 per cent in [positive cases] was witnessed in the vaccinated group and not in the unvaccinated,” Balicer told Sky News. He called it “really good news,” considering the group did have much more protection than their unvaccinated peers. " "SHORT OF ESTIMATES, THOUGH MANY QUESTIONS However, that number fell far short of the estimate in recent weeks: Dr. De Serres in Quebec, as well as the UK vaccine advisory committee and many other experts, had all said they believed the first shot would be about 90 per cent effective, at least for several weeks, allowing them to delay the booster. Pfizer has maintained that its trial data only showed a rate of 52.4 per cent efficacity before the second shot and that it knows nothing about what would happen past 21 days. One question remains around how well the single dose worked to help people fight off serious infections, even if they tested positive for the virus—a key measure. On Wednesday afternoon, Israel's Minister of Health said Ash's comments had been taken "out of context" on this. The minister clarified that Ash had been discussing how Israel "[has] yet to see a decrease in the number of severely ill patients," not infections, according to the BBC. And Balicer suggested the surprise in Israel's data may have come partly from the fact that those studied so far have all been elderly, whereas Pfizer's trial subjects were a mix of ages. The immune systems of the elderly aren’t as strong as those of younger people. Balicer said he expects the Israeli numbers to rise once more young people are included in the group studied. He also said that real-world data is not the same as trial data—and on the upside, Israel’s data proves beyond a doubt that the vaccine does work, and on the same kind of timeline the Pfizer trial showed."

My GP’s surgery rang a few minutes ago, my date for the jab is 30th January at 14.40. Downside is I may miss the first few minutes of the Posh game.

My 98 year old mother in law has heard nothing. But she des not vote Conservative. My mum is in her 80s and still heard nothing yet either. Either she has just been missed out or there is going to be one hell of a ramp up of vaccines in Shrewsbury to get through all of the over 75s and 70s before mid-Feb if they haven't managed to do all of the over 80s yet.
