Be interesting to hear the block 18 and 19 response to the "taking of the knee" on Saturday. Why just those blocks? lol here we go I like this game, its an adaption of the classic panto "he's behind you" everyone in the world knows whats going on but a couple pretend they dont know and ask silly questions

All I can say to those who continue to support this gesture, is that it's obviously been such a resounding success that racism and racist abuse has all but disappeared. lol. Bit like sending people to prison for committing crimes. Might as well not bother really eh? I'm sure you know what point you are trying to make, but I doubt anyone else does.

I just find it funny that there are some of our fans who think that it is only in 18/19 where certain things happen.

I know exactly what is going on. I just find it funny that there are some of our fans who think that it is only in 18/19 where certain things happen. Some ? you’re still playing that game 😝 I'm not playing any games. It's a football messageboard, I comment, I give my opinion, I ask questions, I moan, I challenge, if you see that as playing games then be my guest but it's certainly not how I see it, I'm too old for all of that. In this instance I'm saying I believe there are some of our fanbase who think 18/19 are made up of football hooligans who are only there for trouble and in this instance are likely to be a flashpoint when taking the knee takes place. My two counter points to that are not everyone in those blocks meet that stereotype and there will be people sat in other areas of the ground who do. My guess is there will be a handful of individuals who boo/shout stuff when it happens on Saturday but when there is no widespread support/backing then they will quieten down very quickly.

Let's just trust the players on this. They work in an environment where they think this gesture is important and that's good enough for me.

I notice that MK Dons players didn't 'take the knee' yesterday.

No but they did stand on the circle together so perhaps that is their preference. I think so long as respect is shown and it’s what the player’s want so be it.

Does that make them ignorant, racist, bored of it, or realise that it has next to no affect on anything anymore? Yep, the last one.
I suppose it's potentially re-lit the fire on this thread so no taking the knee is just as powerful as taking it. Who'da thunk-it!

Many fine and decent fans being unjustly maligned here.
Give me Block 19 over the Dignitas stand opposite any match day of the week.

Nobody’s said block 19 is full of racists or anything of the sort. However, it appears that there were two racists amongst that section on Saturday.

Thanks for putting me right on something I never said! You only need to read the thread to see Block 19 as a whole being maligned by certain posters.

My point is that MK Dons players didn't 'take the knee'. What's your point? Ah, I see, you were just enjoying a pre kick-off game of I Spy. Very wholesome. I wasn't making a point, I was asking a question.

"Premier League captains will meet again this week as they prepare to scrap the unilateral decision to take the knee before matches during the upcoming season.
The anti-racism gesture has been a regular feature of English football since the summer of 2020 and was viewed as a crucial symbol in the sport's fight against discrimination.
Its importance has been regularly debated and certain clubs, most recently Sky Bet Championship sides Bristol City and Swansea last week, have decided to stop taking the knee.
A meeting between the 20 Premier League captains place on Thursday with the topic of whether to keep taking the knee debated, but, after a wide variety of views, no final decision has been made and another get-together is pencilled in for this week.
The Premier League is understood to be happy to support the players in whatever choice they decide. A handful of high-profile players have long declined to take the knee, including Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Chelsea's Marcos Alonso". The Daily Telegraph
Fingers crossed common sense prevails here and the rest of the EFL follows suit in canning it in time for the next round of games.

I suppose ultimately it will be up to the players although I think it'll be tone deaf to continue something that has only caused division since day one and has to my knowledge brought about zero positive change. I'm glad nobody boos the gesture although understand why some might feel compelled to, but the number of people stood/sat not acknowledging it at all far outnumber the 'happy clappers' in my experience.

I am no Happy Clapper, just someone who was appalled by the racism directed at lads representing our country, whose only “crime” was missing a penalty. I will criticise any Town player’s performance on any match day but that will not be governed by the colour of his skin. That also applies to opposition players.

Virtue signalling, which is what taking the knee appears to have become, is often tone deaf it seems. It is enough simply to take part. All a bit 1984.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62404611Progress. Although the insistence that it will be continued for 'showpiece' games is confirmation if ever you needed it that this is about signalling virtue and not much else. Hope the EFL follow suit.
