Surely Crawley now has to be replaced? Lees hasn't cemented his position either, whilst Pope plays too loosely for a Number 3. Time now for them to deliver the goods. Target: 378 to win.

Is it wrong that I peer throw squinted eyes on the bbc site expecting Crawley Out sooner or later....hope he proves me wrong and bags at least a 50.
I am still bemused how he is still in the side, McCullum and Stokes must know something we dont.

Good to see Ben Stokes bowling with a bit of pace to finish off the tail.

Crawley out for 46 (to a decent delivery fair play).
Has he done enough to keep his place for later this summer?
Big decision for the selectors.

Pope out for 0 to a loose shot.
The ever reliable Root and Bairstow have pulled things round though.
119 more to win. 7 wickets left, but nearly all of those runs will surely have to be scored by the two currently at the wicket plus Stokes and Billings.
A tail of Broad, Potts, Leach and Anderson can't be relied on for much.

Very poor captaincy from Bumrah today, clearly traumatised by Bairstow’s recent form as they set the field back almost immediately. Very sensible and mature batting from Root and Bairstow to keep the score ticking over against some very defensive bowling and fielding.
Baz-ball is fun.

An amazing turnaround if you think where this team was a few months ago. But the most amazing thing about this test was how easily we chased it down.

Good grief - that hardly warranted the word "chase"....done at a jog! I did say on another thread something about there being no prospect of England playing winning cricket this summer....comment unreservedly withdrawn, but I know that I will be in a minority who will miss the slow burn of test matches, culminating in a final crescendo: the way England are playing is like a permanent crescendo...

Just heard that the ECB are investigating a really bad racist incident on day4 v India. They say " there is no place for racism in cricket" !! There is "NO EXCUSE FOR RACISM " anywhere..... and the authorities really need to come down heavily on any perpetrators. Bans for life, heavy fines & name & shame for a start.

Seems like the switch of captaincy from Morgan to Buttler isn't going too well.
Lost the T20s to India 2-1 and now this.

If I'm honest, I'm more interested in what's happening in the latest round of County Championship games.

Me too. Much prefer the longer format, although I do go to some 50 over games at New Road as well as the County Championship. 🙂🏏

The Indian bowlers are definitely the difference between the two sides. I wonder how their batsmen would cope with them !! Let's just bin that one & start anew (hopefully) in the next game. 🏏

Simon Harmer, the bowler who got away and who will come up against England later this summer.
In fine form yet again.

I was supposed to be going to Southport for the Lancs vs Somerset unfortunately I've not been able to make it. Missing a real run fest at the moment.

There has been controversy surrounding the non-availability of six England players for Finals Day in Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, David Willey (all Yorkshire), Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone (both Lancashire) and Craig Overton (Somerset), who will be playing in Sunday's deciding third ODI against India instead.

Brainless cricket from the middle and lower order, Livingstone, Buttler, Willey and Overton all getting caught on the boundary when some run accumulation was needed first before pressing the accelerator.
Net result is 259 all out with 4 overs completely wasted.

Too many England players made gifts of wickets caught on the boundary, continually going for their shots and taking on short, or back of a length, balls.
Leaving four overs unused cost them the series. India played on their egos and won. Buttler and Liam Livingstone were the most guilty, both falling in Pandya’s seventh over to catches in the deep at a crucial stage when England could still have posted a total above 300.
England needed an almost an old-fashioned approach, building innings and playing the situation rather than continually going on the attack.
