Not long now until the start of the first test, new broom and all that.
I hope Harry Brook gets an opportunity, his form so far this season has been exceptional.

So Rob Key thinks 'reducing' the number of County Championship games is going to improve red ball cricket !! I was always of the understanding that the more often you did something the more efficient you became ? It seems that almost everyone in high places at the ECB puts one day cricket before 'proper' cricket. As ABBA said "Money, Money, Money". Can see me cancelling my Season tkt at Worcester if this happens.

It seems he has already made his mind up. Red ball cricket to be even more marginalised 🙁

Simply astonishing T20 Blast figures for Shagger Curran, roundly ignored on here by those with a Curran vendetta.
It’s already commonly established that his absence was the single most critical factor behind the Ashes debacle, so I’ll certainly be praying he keeps himself fit for an extended period.

Same old England....it's like jobs for the boys...
Bairstow straight in despite no red ball cricket this summer. Feel for Harry Brook who has been scoring heavily in the County Championship. Pressure too on Ollie Pope, expected to bat at number three. I always thought your best batsman should be at three, so why isn't Root coming in ahead of Pope?
If Key is to be believed we will also have Buttler back in the mix before too long.

Telegraph reporting this morning about the "scandalous" ticket prices for this match/weekend £160 per adult and a child seat in the same area £135!

Yes, it's daylight robbery. That's one of the reasons we don't go to the Oval & Lord's any more. Last time we went it cost us £1000.00 for five days cricket plus a three star hotel. A few of my mates & I are going to Birmingham, Manchester & Nottingham Tests this year & tkts for five days are half the price of Lords. And we will be watching the same players. In a word.... GREED.

Some seats at Lords are classified as 'restricted view' yet are still very expensive.
I was inadvertently the victim of being allocated a restricted view seat in the Lower Compton Stand for the Nat West Final between Worcs and Gloucs. It was a lovely sunny day, but the sun never came anywhere near me, as the stand was in shadow all day and it was quite chilly. Not that I could see much of the sky from where I was sitting!
Now that they've pulled down the old Compton and Edrich Stands, I thought the problem of restricted view seats at Lords had been solved. Apparently not.

I had a look on the Lords website earlier and for the first 3 days the cheapest ticket is £100 and no concessions for U16, absolutely disgusting. To put that into context, I've got day 4 tickets (if it gets that far) at Edgbaston against India on the 4th of July and they are £27 each. For argument sake, even if on day 4 we only manage to get 3-4 hours play they would more than pay for themselves. Sounds like the ECB and MCC are lining their pockets and also having to pay for the new Compton and Edrich Stands. Steve Harmison said on Talksport earlier that there are currently 16000 unsold seats for the match.

Same old England....it's like jobs for the boys... Bairstow straight in despite no red ball cricket this summer. Yes, let’s just drop proven world class players because they’ve not bothered to play a few meaningless matches against first class trundlers and pie-throwers. Spot on once again from the selectors and it’s already paid off not just in spadefuls but in JCB-fuls.

Sounds like those who shelled out, at least at the cheaper end, are getting good value for their money. England on top on the Platinum jubilee, and it's at Lords, the home of cricket.

If you can't post anything sensible on a decent thread then please don't bother.

It shows what a good heart you have that you’re leaping to the defence of those I was calling out. I don’t think you need to protect them though, I’m interested in their thoughts. Enjoy the rest of your day.

It was wonderful to watch a Test Match with not a single dressed up idiot in evidence. No rowdy behaviour, chanting or Mexican waves. No beer snakes to be seen. A proper well behaved Test Match crowd which was very much a throwback to the past.
Perhaps charging £100 for tickets does have its benefits.

Another collapse by England. 71/4.
Lees isn't international standard. Questions about the rest of them bar Root and Stokes too.

Stokes playing as if this is a T20. Comprehensively bowled by de Grandhomme, but saved as it's a no ball.

I'm sure there are other people who share a similar view but they are an ever reducing minority and frankly cricket will not survive if this were to become the normal again (not that it will).
