Don't usually watch tv in the daytime, but it's getting exciting so off to watch the last 45 mins on tv instead of listening on the radio.

Sibley clearly can't play spin. Burns will no doubt replace him against India. Bairstow is far too valuable a player not to include in the squad for the 1st 2 Tests against India in my opinion. Hopefully it's just a short term blip with Sibley, Crawley too needs to adapt to these conditions otherwise it's going to be a long and difficult time out in India for them both. I'm really pleased for Dom Sibley, 56* today, hopefully that is sign of good times for the tour of India to come.

An excellent result, but, especially in India, the spin department needs attention - we seem to have batters who can't face it, and bowlers who struggle to bowl it consistently.

It's always been a mystery to me as to why our 'most promising' spin bowlers/batsmen are never taken to the sub-continent in the Winter to learn their trade on those types of wkts !! The best way to become fluent in any language is to go and live in a country of that language. The best way to learn how to bowl & bat against spin is to go & be coached on wkts that turn excessively. Two excellent Test matches and a good series win for England. Hopefully today's knock will have given Dom Sibley big boost of self confidence.

Yes, I've been a critic of Sibley, but that innings will have done a world of good for his confidence.

Do we actually HAVE any promising spinners, I wonder, although I do realise that the preparation of English pitches is not exactly conducive to spin bowling, conventional or the dark arts of wrist-spin..

England will have been exposed to some good spin over these last two tests which will help when they face India next.
Great start to the year for Root but unsure about our opening pair based on this test series

Great win. My match ratings: Crawley 5 Sibley 2 Bairstow 7 Root 9 Lawrence 8 Buttler 7 Curran 8 Bess 7 Leach 7.5 Wood 6 Broad 8 And the ratings for the second test: Crawley 4 Sibley 6 Bairstow 6 Root 9 Lawrence 2 Buttler 8 Curran 7 Bess 7 Leach 7.5 Wood 6 Anderson 8.5 This gives an observable/factual/statical series score as follows in descending order (play both matches to qualify). Root 9 Buttler 7.5 Leach 7.5 Curran 7.5 Bess 7 Bairstow 6.5 Wood 6 Lawrence 5 Crawley 4.5 Sibley 4 Big congratulations to Root for winning the Constabulary Man of the Series and well done to Buttler, Leach and Curran for coming joint second. Finally, shame on those on here who were issuing wanton abuse at Buttler scarcely a year ago for his Test performances. I for one am glad to see Buttler put the boo-boys back in their box. This juvenile clamour for “Foakes” was sheer folly as has been proven in the fullness of time - when will the County cricket mob start to realise that keeping well against gentle seamers from a pie-throwing trundler doesn’t qualify you for Test Match cricket. You don’t get bonus points for making ‘out there’ and outlandish requests to the selectors.

I see that England will play New Zealand later in the year. Now that should be a good test after India.

Things come to those that wait, I have never spent a penny on Sky , all right it has taken a while The shame is that the last live cricket on Channel 4 was the unforgettable Ashes series of 2005. Loads of new converts to cricket must have been made that year - and then the ECB sells the broadcast rights to Sky!

Zak Crawley is an injury doubt for the first test due to a wrist injury, Ollie Pope is on standby to replace him.
