Wow, that was some series win for India.
It was already going to be a tough series for England out in India. Even more so now.
At least England will have had this 2 match series vs Sri Lanka as preparation.

India did not only miss Kohli for the last three Tests but were dealt with injuries to a number of first-team players. India missed senior pacer Mohammed Shami in the second Test before Umesh Yadav joined him on the sidelines after a groin injury. Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah were all sidelined ahead of the fourth Test.
However, youngsters like Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Rishabh Pant, and T Natarajan among others stepped up and proved the mettle of India's remarkable bench strength Down Under. India recorded the highest successful run-chase in Tests at The Gabba and also registered their first-ever win at the venue to retain the elusive Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
England will clearly have it all to do!

'For all of us in India & across the world, if you ever score 36 or lesser in life, remember: it isn't end of the world. The spring stretches backward only to propel you forward. And once you succeed, don't forget to celebrate with those who stood by you when the world wrote you off'.

All-rounder Ben Stokes and fast bowler Jofra Archer have returned to the England squad for the first two Tests of the tour of India, as does Rory Burns. Meanwhile Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood and Sam Curran will all be rested for the first half of the four-Test series. Blimey, it's hard work this test cricket! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/55747795

Sibley has got the second test coming up to show that he can make a big score in the subcontinent. He clearly has a weakness against the spinners.

Interesting thought from Simon Heffer of the Telegraph:
"How to save Test cricket? Ban anyone who plays a white-ball match from red-ball cricket for a year.
Players being rested threatens to kill the greatest form of the game - the time has come to fully separate first-class and one-day cricket..."

Sibley clearly can't play spin. Burns will no doubt replace him against India.
Bairstow is far too valuable a player not to include in the squad for the 1st 2 Tests against India in my opinion.

Hopefully it's just a short term blip with Sibley, Crawley too needs to adapt to these conditions otherwise it's going to be a long and difficult time out in India for them both.

England's number 7 didn't hang around for long. Joe Root in a world of his own.

It’s Root’s 99th test match and we’re seeing him switch hitting for the first time, shows how the true champions never stop learning or trying to better themselves. He’s also scored considerably quicker than any other batsmen on either team which shows he’s in a league of his own. Tomorrow is going to be a great day of test cricket, could still go either way.

Decent innings from Dom Bess but oh dear Mark Wood suddenly had a rush of blood!!
----
That's it for the day.
Joe Root looks gutted as he walks off having been run out on 186 just 4 balls to close of play.
During that innings went past Boycott yesterday and Pieterson & Gower today in Test runs list going into 4th.
Down to Leech and Anderson to get a few runs

A very good day of cricket so far for us although that last partnership was frustrating. I do feel sorry for Bess & Leach, they are not world class spinners but they can't win, wicketless in the first innings and they get slated, bowl out SL in the second innings but its because of how badly SL have played
