what did you want me to say ? how about i'd have held that limp 96th minute shot Well that would have been a lot more relevant and made more sense than your random 'closing the youth academy' dont worry , we'll find the money from somewhere and bring in a manager who takes us down 1 in 3 , hurst maybe ?

I respect totally that you disagree with me Pilch but, come on, let's debate this with a bit of maturity rather than spouting such pathetic drivel! really ? i was arguing with a guy demanding we pay off ricketts and put in a unamed manager who gives us a 30% chance of going down i mean wtf ? im still hoping we have less than a 30% of going down the way things currently are I'm not arguing with anybody!

We’re already four points from safety, at what point are we going to suddenly go on a run of wins and pull up the table?

Total guesswork and some simple assumptions Would it be fair to paraphrase that with “I don’t know”? Yes similarly I don’t know what the weather will be tomorrow, but I can take some educated assumptions it’ll probably be cold. I didn’t know we would lose today, but I took an educated assumption we would so didn’t pay for ifollow

There you go, back to loads or random stuff that could happen. Didn't you moan at someone on another thread recently about not sticking to facts? Changing managers is no guarantee of staying up of course but 1 win in 12 games this season or 3 wins in 26 games shows there is little chance of staying up under Ricketts. And before you say it, no, cup games don't count. I couldn't give a **** if we beat Newcastle kids or the reserves of Bolton & Crewe. As for 'finding the money' our last set of accounts showed us having over £2million in the bank and we of course would have have made some decent money from the cup run last season. Now has that already been swallowed up? Has Ricketts got a big pay out coming? None of us know the answers. And until we hear anything from the board then the fans will rightly focus on the results and demand changes.

Forget this guessing game nonsense about % of staying up with or without Ricketts. The only thing really we can discuss is facts. We have one league win in twelve, we’re third bottom and four points adrift already, with a huge squad and some good players which clearly Ricketts has absolutely no idea how to get the best out of, I can respect everyone has opinions but I’m amazed anyone can be behind him still, it’s clear as day he needs to go.
We have two players Sam brought to the club who will be on good wages who have been completely exiled from the league squad and replaced with loans. If Sam was a good manager he would work with Love and Goss, his players, and make it work, not just push them to one side and continue signing players elsewhere.
We play a different formation or lineup every week. Its clear watching the team they don’t know their jobs or trust each other. We’ve been mind numbingly boring going forwards ever since he took over, and now he’s decided to try and be more attacking we’ve turned into a complete mess at the back.
The odd person on here will blame the players, and they obviously need to take some responsibility, but Ricketts signed them, trains and selects them. Mistakes happen but repeated mistakes and poor results suggests deeper lying issues beyond the players. For what my opinion is worse, you don’t consistently perform the way we do and throw away result after result if you 100% trust and play for your manager.
I’m not going to sit and count up the stats for Ricketts but a quick glance online suggest he’s managed 96 games for us, winning 28, drawing 31 and losing 35. Taking into consideration many of those wins have been cup matches, in particular cup matches against weak FL Trophy opponents. His actual league record must be very poor.
Let’s not forget the complete joke of a performance at Anfield where he set up us to defend against a bunch of kids, I’m still convinced any other League One side going there that night would have take the game to Liverpool and won, we went to defend and not lose, embarrassing night in our history.
I feel for Ricketts because it’s obvious he wants to be successful and backs himself, but since he’s been here there’s a long list of problems and downfalls in his management, the list for the things he’s improved and positive things you can say about is reign is a short one.

I do understand the need to hypothesise about the reasons why RW and the Board have taken no action as yet, but it is not quite as easy to explain simply by attributing to the Board the concepts suggested in that learned exposition on that link: it implies that the decision (or absence thereof) can be reached "scientifically" by weighing up the costs and benefits; this is fine as far as it goes, but the difficulty for the board is that they really only know one side of that equation: the cost to the club of dismissing Mr Ricketts.... the benefits - shall we say "avoiding relegation" and/or "saving the Club" are, whatever anyone might say, entirely unknown, or at least are not quantifiable. The decision facing the Board is therefore one in which on one side, there are presumably known costs (severence/paying off the remaining part of his contract), but on the other side the POTENTIAL cost of the benefit. Estimating that potential cost is a matter of judgement..... I suggest that for this, RW invests in a top-quality crystal ball. I am not sure I have expressed myself well, but I know what I mean..... Are there any behavioral scientists or sociologists on here🤣🤣🤣?

Today was a reasonable performance, much better than I expected. The manager’s record to date is not good enough but..... he is being badly let down by his players. Last season’s centre backs gave been playing like they have never met before, the midfield has been constantly changing through injuries, suspensions etc and the strikers have been missing numerous chances. All these players are ones that we are saying are a very strong squad. I exclude the keepers as two have been injured and the only one available has not struck me as being good enough, with the exception of a couple of games. These players are escaping criticism whilst the man who has put his faith in them is getting hammered and blamed for their mistakes. If he does lose his job, I hope they will look in the mirror and ask themselves if it is in any way down to them.

OBVIOUSLY the league games do pay the bills just as much as some cup games do. How many fans who pick and choose are going to want to pay £20 to watch us get slapped 2-0 at home to Doncaster Rovers which sees us even more rooted in the relegation zone in the third tier of English football? Then of course if (when we go down under SR), we’ll lose easily 2,000 plus fans in certain fixtures as there won’t be many queuing up in the p**sing down rain in December to watch us play a Stevenage, Crawley, Barrow than there would be if we played a Sunderland, Hull, Portsmouth. League games do pay bills.

We shouldn't underestimate how much finance is probably playing in this. Basically the club is getting little or no income. Changing managers may become more a matter of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

We shouldn't underestimate how much finance is probably playing in this. Basically the club is getting little or no income. Changing managers may become more a matter of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Normally I'd agree with you, for example if we had a terrible squad. But we don't, and we all know the players, for example, Pierre, Williams and EEL can be IF they are playing with confidence in a settled team, because we've seen them do it. The same for Norburn. So, why aren't they? Why are they making mistakes game after game? I can only put this down to the manager and his inability to instill that confidence - given it's affecting so many different players there can be no other explanation. So, getting rid of Sam and getting a Warnock type 'trouble shooter' manager in for six months, but to work with the undoubtedly good players we have and just to give us the best chance of staying up for me has to be the way forward. The club can then assess contracts, division, finances etc in the summer and plan accordingly. In the meantime this option doesn't leave us too financially exposed excessively as we're just paying up Sam's contract, and perhaps paying a modest sum more over six months for a quality interim, and with the prize of league one football next season versus the risk, looking increasingly likely, that Sam takes us down so for me the sooner the Board act and make this decision the better as Sam has shown no signs of being able to turn this round and the longer we dwell then the harder it will be as we'll be even further behind. Sack him this week and let Edwards pick the team in the cup.
