I’m not quite sure what they continue to see in Ricketts. Relegation will cost more than sacking the manager.

I’m not quite sure what they continue to see in Ricketts. Relegation will cost more than sacking the manager. Out of curiosity what will sacking Rickets cost and how much will relegation cost. Genuine question👍 Total guesswork and some simple mathematical assumptions: Our 18/19 average attendance was 6,400 Even in 14/15 when we got promoted from League 2, it was 5,300 Let’s say our average ticket price is what, £15? Between kids, adults, Cat A, Cat B? 1,100 x £15 x 23 games is £379,500 Now the above is open to challenge but I don’t think is wildly unrealistic. Even if average ticket price is £10 that’s £250k... Then there’s the Financial Fair Play implications... League 2 has a far tighter budget limit than League 1. We need a change now before it’s damagingly too late

Genuine question👍 It’s an interesting question that I don’t know the answer to. But relegation now would be a humongous backwards step and undo years of hard work. The answer is I guess how long we would stay down for. Imagine coming out of the pandemic, free to have full stadiums again and we’re facing Stevenage and Crawley in front of 3000 fans instead of full houses against Sunderland and Hull. Surely if we stay up Ricketts is gone in the summer?

And I’ve no idea what it would cost to sack Ricketts but given he has 7 months on his contract left, I’d be astounded if it was anywhere near £250k!

Genuine question👍 Total guesswork but I guess it’ll be about £70k to pay Ricketts off. Maybe less if we allow him to manage another club before the summer. Won’t cost us any more if Edwards becomes player manager anyhow. The players will listen, respect and respond to him. As has been said attendances of League One and Two are vastly different home and away. There’s big clubs in League One who will sell out the away end, look at the teams in League Two can you see any of them selling out? Maybe Bradford or Tranmere if there’s anything riding on it at the end of the season. Also extra money from being in a higher league.

Think I would be concerned if they turned to Edwards full time right now. We need someone in there with experience of difficult times and how to turn things round. Edwards as caretaker yes, Edward as No2 to the new man yes, Edwards as a future manager yes. But the position we are in right now isn't for a rookie manager.

Well, like I said before, ricketts as already cost us a fair bit of money.we paid his contract up at wrexscum, which could of been up to £100,000, plus if we pay his contract up now, I dunno another £70,000.and if we go down, god only knows what that will cost us in the future.a shame really considering all the hard work that as gone on behind the scenes in the last few years.we will see next week if roland and Brian have got the guts to sack him, especially if we lose to oxford city

I’m inclined to agree but anybody in the professional game right now is better than Ricketts being in charge.

You take it to the extreme to try and defend Ricketts. As I said we won’t be any worse off financially with Edwards in charge.

Sacking him will cost less than relegation to the basement. God knows how long we’ll stay there too. I want us to do well but I just can’t see Ricketts turning it round and us staying up under him.

I obviously know if we get a different manager in it doesn’t guarantee safety. Ricketts stays - 0% chance of staying up. New manager - 70/80% chance of staying up. He’s lost the dressing room. Time for him to go before any more damage gets done.

Win on Sunday and we'll have made over £40k out of the FA cup, none of which we should have budgeted for, plus a more modest extra sum for progressing in the pizza cup. Ricketts has six months left on a salary that we can probably assume is approximately £100k-£200k. Say it's £150k then £75k to pay up the remainder of his contract. I accept the board are concerned about the costs then of a new man wanting to bring their own players in but we don't need that. We need someone on a short term contract to work with what we've got. Let's face this it, this season is over as far as any ambitions go, there are now only two outcomes, we scr@pe survival or we get relegated. Sam's heading straight for relegation with his chaotic handling of things so we need a stop gap to work with what we have, on a short term contract so we can take our time with a new manager in the summer.
Honestly, I am still so, so, so angry. Please Sam, just go!!

Out of curiosity what will sacking Rickets cost and how much will relegation cost. Genuine question👍 Total guesswork and some simple assumptions Would it be fair to paraphrase that with “I don’t know”?

And tell me another fanbase that would accept the record that Sam Ricketts has with us in nearly 2 years/100 games?

Genuine question👍 No one knows. In a strange way I'd like to think the cost of sacking him would be huge, at least I could then understand why we are sticking by him.
