Can someone explain to me why when he got injured bad enough that he had to be subbed he suddenly jumped to his feet and walked off the pitch before the sub was ready?
That decision led to us playing with 10 men and that is when we conceded the first goal. It was signalled to the bench as soon as he went down that he was done so why did it take so long to get vela on?

Agree. The bench should have had Vela ready to go on before Norburn left the pitch. They scored when we were down to 10. Why didn't Ricketts/Whitehead spot that?

Norburn wanted to walk off across the pitch to the dugouts, which would’ve given Vela time to get ready, but the referee made him walk off on the far touchdown where he went down and promptly got on with the game.
Irritates me how long it takes to get players on though. Both for the player to take all their layers off, and then be fed a load of diagrams and information from the dugout, really poor.

Not the first time we have conceded a goal because a sub wasnt dressed ready to come on. Never understood it

I just hope Ricketts has words with whoever was at fault. Norburn for not staying down, the player next to norburn making all sorts of random hand signals or vela for not being ready quick enough. That kind of s**t can not be happening in the professional game.

Manager told norburn to jump up and walk off or told vela to take his time getting ready?

Manager told norburn to jump up and walk off or told vela to take his time getting ready? Failing to make sure he gets Vela on at that moment and a bollocking to Norburn and the coach walking off before the sub . Also Salop had opportunity to put the ball out of play for the sub. Shocking all round.

Agree that Vela should have been on quicker but we conceded because of a miskick by a defender under no pressure so it was not the cause.

ricketts will have steam coming out of his ears, i clearly remember saying his biggest pet hate was calling for a sub who isnt ready

Well after vela getting sent off and now not being ready in time I doubt we will see much more of him. Which tbh I'm not arsed about, started brightly but he hasn't done anything of note. Would much rather Goss had his spot.

Hang on a minute Norburn was down for a couple of mins before the physio came on. Manager should immediately get a sub ready just in case especially as it was a sub that was likely anyway before the injury. (Vela on)
Decision was made before Norburn left the pitch (correctly after trying to cheat) as he took the armband off and gave it to Edwards...
Sub should have been standing ready and Ricketts in 4th officials ear saying we want to sub.
He either wasn't ready because he hadn't been asked to prepare as soon as the injury happened or Ricketts was slow telling the 4th official...Instead he was likely still moaning about missed Penalties rather than concentrating on the game

I don’t have a vendetta against Sam Ricketts, and would be happy if he turned it round, if we got 3 wins out of 4 for example I think many would be happy as I would. This is the worst start at any level I can remember and considering the caliber of much of the squad for this level the players should also be embarrassed as professional footballers.

Whilst I agree with the fact that players should be more professional and have pride in their job, also it swings over to the fact of respect in the man at the top, if that is lacking in all departments, then you have a problem, most of the players are good enough to carry this forward but it's obvious to see that they have lost faith and maybe respect, also think that what should have been our finest hour at Wembley turned sour maybe because the players obviously knew that the team was breaking up and the manager was doing a runner, so sad and frustrating to see this happening.
