www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2020/november/sam-ricketts-previews-ipswich-town/Ipswich are third but have won two and lost three of there last five games. we all know the faillings in defence and how that has cost us and our inability to hold on to a lead or kill of games.whilst town are prone to raise there game against better teams, unless we can do somthing about our defence i think we will do well to get a point from this game.the glimer of hope is we have started to score goals.

I agree a point would be a decent outcome. Individual errors at the back and a tendency to lie too deep near the end of games are costing us. On the plus side we have a few players coming back from injury and have added a bit of extra pace with Millar and Tracey. Let's hope the good Town team turns up.

That reads like our league record in 2020! Not expecting anything Saturday although Ipswich have been up and down in form so not impossible to get anything

Well we're at the stage now where looking to this fixture all I'm thinking is "how many" and "will he survive this one".
Anyone else recall the trip there last season.
Come on Town!!

I dont think a loss at Ipswich will cost Ricketts his job as Roland has stuck with him so far and will be hoping for some reward in return. We were well beaten in the end there last year but I do remember Edwards in particular missing a few chances that,if taken, would have changed the course of the game. I think Nolan was disappointed about his mate Whalley's sending off as he said later he did not get the chance to kick him! Remember we are one of only two sides to have taken anything away from Plymouth (who have the best home record in League 1) so why cant we get something out of this game? Come on Town - lets have a bit of Saturday joy to lighten the lockdown blues.

I admire the positivity but the lack of comments on this thread, even negative ones, speaks volumes for how disappointing this season is becoming. Don’t get me wrong, I really hope Town can turn things around, with or without Ricketts, but it’s becoming a hard slog mustering up the enthusiasm.

I think it’ll be 5 at the back, with Walker sat in front, norburn playing deep and the usual boring rickets ball

There's an outside chance we'll get a result as Ricketts has been pretty good in his time here at setting up defensively and picking up points away.
Realistically we'll probably lose, and providing we don't get hammered or give up that's fine to some extent - our season isn't going to be defined by what we do away at the biggest teams in the division, much as bonus points in those games are welcome. The real problem is we've been so s**te against other s**te teams, and that's why there's pressure on this game.

i listening to the price of football podcast this week, one of the guests was the Lincoln CE, he even mentioned brian once
his only aim at lincoln at the moment is to ensure there is still a club there for the fans to come back to if and when they are allowed

this is the 11 game of the season i normally look forward to every game even when we have a dire season, i dont know if it is not been able to go to live games, this sureal year of covid-19 and all the suffering it has caused or just some disapointment after a poor start either way as edgmond said in his post " it’s becoming a hard slog mustering up the enthusiasm."

Similar thoughts to Sunderland away in Ricketts first season. Not expecting much, ropy defending at best and a side who are decent at home. However, like that day and on other occasions Ricketts does have a knack of getting points against tougher opposition. Apart from Peterborough this season we've done ok.
A lose is most likely but we need points. So cannot go without an intent to win. So just hope we improve as a defensive unit and build on goals scored recently. Need to avoid conceding early and stay in game as long as possible. Set pieces seem to be our way to goals at the moment.

Of the seven games Ipswich have played against sides in the bottom half of the division they have only failed to take all three points the once, a 1-1 draw at Mc Dons.
They have won all their homes games.
They have yet to concede a league goal at home this season.

[/div] They have yet to concede a league goal at home this season.
[/quote] Put that with the 2 goal lead our defence usually gives teams means we are 'likely' to not pick up 3 points you would think.🤨

you can get evens on Ipswich for what seems like incredible odds judging on some of the predictions
so who is the bravest to put their money wheres their mouths are and double you money on ipswich ?

It was sitting below vet bills, Paul Hurst, Priti Patel etc...
Team news on its way...

It's the referee you have to watch not the form or league position of both teams. They've had it in for us for weeks many have argued and made a number of critical errors which have cost the team dear. We should win today but there's many things open to debate I'm not taking anything for granted. We don't possess any great forwards and a number of players have been out injured since August. Playing without a crowd seems to suit us but sometimes the team doesn't seem motivated and Lambert picks strange line-ups on occasion. If it were a Cup match today you'd win - no questions asked.
We need to win to keep chase of the automatic promotion places. You're down there and struggling, both teams need a victory but hope obviously it will be us in an hour or two. If the team doesn't make it back to second level by end of season Lambert can go it obviously wouldn't be working for him OR the club.
