So after failing to pick up Newcastle United, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan looks set to complete the take over of Derby County. Lord knows what plans they have or the money they can throw at this but you would think they will be one to keep an eye out for. Who knows where this may end up. Good choice I guess, another one club city and they do get decent attendances do Derby. There is plenty of potential there. And when you see stuff this you start to understand the urgency shown by the likes of Manchester and Liverpool trying to pull the drawbridge up. 'Path is clear' - What we know about Derby County takeover by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

They said that about Man City. The regeneration in that part of Manchester where the Etihad is incredible.

Could well be the richest club in League 1 next season.
What good is all that money if you aren't allowed to spend more than £2.5m of it on player costs? Once the new EFL wage rules start taking effect on the bigger clubs it won't matter how much money they have or how much support they can get through the gates any more.

Huge under counter payments no doubt...

Set to collapse

Radio Derby reportedly announced in the last few minutes that the deal has collapsed. If that is true, they will need a new deal to be agreed and ratified before the fixtures are announced on Thursday of next week, otherwise they will not be able to guarantee that they have the funds to complete the season.

Another Bury? My worry is that if Derby cannot meet the conditions, they will either be Liquidated or relegated to the Conference, thus leaving the EFL one team short. Do they then promote an extra team from L2 to L1 and if so they would need to promote another from the National League. That being the case, it could surely only be the losing team from the Play-off Final - Solihull Moors.

Another Bury? Crikey that would be 2 of the original 12, 3 if you include Accrington many years ago.

Mike Ashley could well rekindle his interest in Derby and 'save' the club.

Mike Ashley could well rekindle his interest in Derby and 'save' the club. Would be their best option by miles. Hated the fella at Newcastle, but he certainly knew how to run a business and turn a profit and it's exact what Derby need.

Its what they need but what a football club needs and what football fans want are very different matters entirely.

its always good when the rest of the community catch up ;-) its looking worse for derby than I thought they are about £60M in debt, and have zero assets they need a very generous benefactor or they might vanish wouldn't it be fun if the fa got tough for once and relegate Everton and derby to the conference right now ;-)

Not even out of administration and offering enough money to blow even big spending Portsmouth out of the water. If they expect any sympathy they can get to ****.
