Looking increasingly like a bunch of players going through the motions rather than a team prepared to roll their sleeves up and play for their manager - when that happens it’s time to go. I’ve tried to support Ricketts but his brand of football, constant tinkering and seeming lack of ability to get his players to perform for him suggests it’s time for change - I’d be on the phone to Nigel Clough who has experience within this league and importantly working for a chairman very much in the Wycherley ilk it did last night ( apart from vela and burgoyne ) but its not been the case previously saturday is a big one, and moral will be lower after last night with the same attitude it could be a big 5-0 or worse we can but hope not

It’s a no from me. Give him a chance.....
The fans forced Roland’s hand with Askey with their vile abuse and we ended up with Ricketts. Now the fans are trying to get rid of Ricketts in a vile abusive way (look at Twitter) but we’d still be relying on Roland’s next appointment and fans are suggesting people with no league management experience....

The brand of football has got worse not better since he joined, and results are going the same way

Mansfield and Salford are already looking for new managers, so some of those available might soon be signed up.

Ricketts said in his interview this morning ‘ the wind made it a really tricky game. Unfortunately it wasn’t a footballing game as such... we pressed and kept on trying we had shots blocked, go wide and hit the post it didn’t fall for us and didn’t go out way we deserved a point.....
WTF is he on about? He’s lost the plot and needs to go ( IMO)

I don’t want Sam relieved of his duties just yet.
I’m looking at Burton at home on Tuesday.
Burton have been even worse than us and if we can’t beat them at home, I think time will be up for Sam. I think most fans don’t have really high expectations for us, a 12th to 16th finish would leave most of us satisfied. I would say that is what should be expected from this squad.

What's the point. Club gets in a new manager and if they achieve any success, they will just move on and all their good work is just undone. The whole merry go round then starts again and the club loses a shed load of money.

I'd like to think that the players know the seriousness of the situation, if we see a lack of effort/fight in the next couple of games then you'd have to say it's game over for the manager, however that doesn't mean the players should get off scott free (which they have up to this point).

The senior management, not just Roly have just backed Sam to bring in CD and MP, so they are going to allow some time now to see how that goes - so Sam has until xmas, probably until the end of his contract to prove he can do it.
So what's the point of a Rickett's out vote? Get behind the team. The earliest date this vote should have appeared is xmas if things were still not working.

That makes no sense You do realise we gained a shed load of money from having Hurst and Nolan/Nsiala poached from us, not to mention the TV money from 2 Wembley appearances and FA Cup games v West Ham

We were lucky. That sort of season doesn't come round very often. Still the way things are going with the virus, who knows what the state of the league will be in by the season end.

So far our record on manager appointments has been closer to losing a shed load of money than gaining.

Or are you in the Whitehead as caretaker camp? Remember Mike Jackson replacing GT when he resigned? A disaster!

Don't make out it's a problem just for Shrewsbury. Again, doesn't explain how we "lost a shed load of money" by doing well

Ricketts is out of contract at the end of the season, this is not an Askey situation where we are sacking him a few months into his contract. Yes there will be costs of course and it wouldnt just be Ricketts although he hasn't got the biggest of back room staff anyway
None of us know the cost of sacking him versus the cost of relegation, but equally none of us know what would happen if we did get relegated, we could bounce back straight away or we could get stuck in there for a few years. Personally, i don't want to risk finding out and would like to think that Roland & Brian would do everything they can do keep us in the third tier - having a change of manager is the obvious answer (although there is no guarantee of success).

100 out of 125 so far say he needs to go. That's quite a high % bearing in mind similar polls in the past.

Still as I said it is just an opinion . There are no right or wrong answers. Still time will tell.

I've made a comment on another thread on the lines that we have worked hard to establish our league one status, I don't want to see us give it up easily by being relegated. The notion that we could bounce back straight away, yes we did it under Turner and then Mellon and both automatically as well. But, and it's a big but, there is no guarantee or divine right that it would happen so easily again. There are clubs in league 2, like Bradford, Walsall & Sc***horpe who are finding life in the basement division not much fun, I don't want to swap with them or any of the others any time soon, league one are what we are and let's hope we keep it that way.

If Ricketts does not turn things round soon (say by the start of December) I think the chairman's hand will be forced. Just don't get this very negative argument saying we have to stick with an underperforming manager for financial reasons - surely the right new man if needed could save us from relegation given the best part of a season. I would not pitch in novices like Whitehead or Edwards but go for experience - surely we could tempt someone like Paul Cook as we basically have a sound club. I voted no to sacking now despite my reservations about Ricketts management and will continue to support him and the team ( remotely) in the hope things will improve.

As much as Paul Cook would be my choice, I have a suspicion he might now see himself as a Championship/top of League 1 manager (justifiably), with salary demand to match. The bottom end of League 1 might not look very attractive.

He might - except for the 'giant' bit. You've got to be coming from somewhere small to think of us as a giant. I'd also reserve judgment on the quality of the squad!
