funny what the difference in 2 sides hitting the post can do town for the 3rd game running hit the woodwork and nothing fleetwood hit the post and it goes in as micky 'hardy' mellon would say thats another fine margin you've got me into ;-) Pretty sure you're comparing apples with pears here. Evans' goal was an expertly taken first time instinctive strikers' finish that superbly curled into the bottom corner giving Harry no chance. Udoh's was a bundled off target scuff of a shot that was covered by Leutweiler if it had been inside the post. Not sure there's a fine margin between them at all.

“Harry”
PS I voted no purely on principle given scarecrow’s postings have been so ill-conceived recently. I, too, struggle to see a way for Ricketts’ tenure to end in success.

SR doesn't have a ****ing clue no pace in the team again a goal from s**t defending. We are chasing the game and need a goal he then makes a sub. In the 89th min takes off walker and puts on Pierre. WTF no Cummings yes he has been poor recently bearing in mind he is playing out of position . SR post match against Bristol rovers was that the front 3 were brilliant. The guy is clearly out of his depth SACK him now

Missed your radio Shropshire phone in as they cut my ifollow, then couldn't get to radio Shropshire online for SR interview would of been interesting as nothing you have said today i have agreed with. He had to go with Pugh at some point tonight but i was surprised he started, what other options did he have tonight he played Barnett as a front wide player? dont understand his thinking but maybe Covid or Cummings injury, either that he could of changed the formation and played 5 in midfield, but to be honest it was as awful as the Wimbledon game that we won. Yes Fleetwood are a good side yes we hit the post but when it happened it was too late in the game. I know your worship the guy but sometimes you have just got to look and hopefully let your brain rule your heart.

I'm not one to say I told you so.. Would you sack a manager after 8 games? If I was Roland Wycherley I'd be 'sitting tight'. See how it plays out. Give him till Christmas, or the New Year. It'd cost to sack him. Why pay him off and pay extra intoday's climate? No fans through the turnstile's etc You're stuck with him. Unless, your gaffer's got a little bit of money saved away under the teapot.

Apparently according to Ricketts the problem tonight was the wind in his interview. I’ve heard everything now. I can't find anything on iFollow but this is part of what was included on the Town website... It was a game of two very different halves. The wind made it a really tricky game today. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a footballing game as such. Ched’s finish was great on his left foot. It was a half-chance really and he managed to tuck it away. There were things we could have done better, definitely. In the second-half, we ended up pinning them in and pushing their defence right until the end.Pretty sure this isn't the first time we've seen a manager looking to make mention of the conditions up at Fleetwood. So I guess from that Ricketts thinks we weren't able to get our passing game going (that we had seen signs of in the last two home games) because of the wind. When you read stuff like this you don't half get a feeling of déja vu.

Just curious, I know people are shouting for him to go (which I understand and agree with) but do people genuinely believe he will be going? With the recent signings and Rolands history of backing managers (except Askey), I think Ricketts has got a few months yet, unless we go on a particularly horrendous run of successive losses and/or a big defeat

I really hope he can turn it round and prove most of us wrong, but every game that passes that seems less likely

This is a tricky one. I suspect Sam's not on huge wages. He came as an inexperienced manager, I suspect very grateful for the opportunity, and with his contract up at the end of the season the direct costs of sacking him may not be too great. But, it's the consequential costs that would really kill us. Paying off the backroom staff, compensating another club for their manager perhaps, a new man wanting to bring in his own backroom team or favoured players. That's when the costs start to ramp up, and if you're approaching all that from a place of desperation as we might be if we don't alert this slump then the costs are inevitably higher.
Another factor to also be mindful of is covid. We might think we're in a false position, and that when this team gels we'll start picking up points, but we don't want to fall the wrong side of any points per game analysis if covid affects any ability to complete the season, so the urgency is immediate sadly.
I've reflected and noting Posh is a tough game, but followed by Burton at home, which is our 10th game and a good place to then judge the merits of our start, I'm going to decide at that point if there are any signs we've turned a corner (when I say turn a corner this is more a 180 handbrake turn than a gentle bend!) but if not the need to act decisively will be pretty overwhelming for me.

Just curious, I know people are shouting for him to go (which I understand and agree with) but do people genuinely believe he will be going? With the recent signings and Rolands history of backing managers (except Askey), I think Ricketts has got a few months yet, unless we go on a particularly horrendous run of successive losses and/or a big defeat I do believe any prudent stewardship of a football club would be very concerned at the results and more than that, the manner of the results and how we are failing to entertain, not just this season but for the whole of Ricketts tenure. If we are getting points on the board a certain amount of boring football is tolerable with the combined lack of exciting football and failure to get points on the board there is a distinct possibility management will be changed that is a no brainer. The recent signings all be they short term of PUGH and DANIELS shows support for the management and would leave you to believe more time will be given for the squad to gel. However, I fully expect the Chairman and his advisers to be considering who they would replace Ricketts and his team with and putting feelers out to gage reaction and interest. Mr Wycherley, Mr Cauldwell et al have to balance this against what the financial cost will be to the club in the short term i.e. the cost of paying up the contracts against failure to keep our status in league one and being relegated in the long term. This is further complicated by the lack of income because of COVID and no income from crowds and ancillary earnings from match day crowds. Plus who would be available to replace Sam and who we could afford let alone fit into the clubs leadership idea of what we want/need! So in summary I do not expect a kneejerk reaction of Sam being fired but I do expect the wheels to be in motion for contingency plans should the next month not produce the desired improvement in results and league position. Being knocked out of the F.A. Cup in round one would also be another financial and emotional blow. To be optimistic if we start winning a game or two and reach round two of the F.A. Cup perhaps, just perhaps Sam will have saved his bacon or at least kicked the can down the road and saved the club a little more compensation money. Sam is inexperienced and nice guy or not he has to learn quickly and strive for a settled side that can win games, he has to improve his tactical awareness and above all motivate his growing squad and keep them all happy and together, a daunting task in itself. Sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go let them express themselves. Bill Shankly once said " Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple." I would add to that " consider those passes need to go forward so we make inroads into the opposition's half and ultimately get shots in on goal, as it is goals that win games. The side is lacking dreadfully in confidence at present, the recent run of form will do that to you, the body language at the end of the game last night was there for all to see. Sam has to restore that confidence and make them believe in themselves as well as believe they will improve and get results, very difficult in empty soulless stadiums and not a task I would envy. Win, lose or draw I will as ever be there watching them for the time being just on I Follow, such is the lot of a Shrewsbury Town Fan

I voted Yes because for my personal enjoyment and risk of league one safety I think we need to make a change ASAP, Stowmarket Shrew made a good point about a potential season curtailment and PPG method used to calculate final placings which makes it even more urgent. Literally the only saving grace at the moment is I know times are tough economically so can the club afford to sack him and his team? But that is literally the only reason I wouldn't pull the trigger, the football is dull, results are awful and the fans have turned. Any other time and he'd be sacked but let's hope to god he turns it around because I can't see Roland sacking him with so much economic uncertainty.

I think the board will give him another 5 or 6 games but if we haven't picked up by then, we will be rooted in the bottom four and a decision will have to be made. It will then come down to who else can come in or be put in charge that will turn it around. But Roland will know that it will cost him more by going down to L2 than it will to pay SR's contract up and make some changes. His contract is up at the end of the season, I think.

That was the second game I haven't iFollowed (Wimbledon the other) and I'm in two minds about Saturday's now. It was bad enough on the radio.
With hindsight it was surely a mistake to start Pugh and perhaps Norburn isn't ready psychologically to be playing yet but this is nitpicking; the squad as a whole is performing badly and it's hard to see where any improvement will come from. There's a sluggishness and air of lethargy and resignation about every team we field at the moment.
I don't have much confidence in Ricketts to turn this around. Apart from the odd game, usually a cup tie, it doesn't feel like we've ever really got going under Ricketts. When he took over we just bumbled along through the rest of the season and stayed up, similarly last season. We just seem to have flatlined for two years with our performances but now the results, never particularly good, are going against us.
The only shaft of light I can discern is our defensive record, somehow, is good. In theory, it might not take a lot to turn one goal defeats into positive results. In practice, our form is so uninspiring and our goal scoring effort so poor that it feels more likely we'll walk into a thrashing some time soon.

As much as some on here want Ricketts sacked, no Juan wants him shown the door more than his previous employers supporters. I had long chat with a Wrexham fan and they hate him with a passion. Just shows how small minded they are.
When our own Judas slithered under the exit door, I remember posting, "Off to Ipswich? Good luck to you Sir". When he got the boot I'd barely finished doing an Irish jig, when the same thing happened at Sc***horpe. Sham pain all round!

Last night was definitely a case of one step forward, 2 steps back. There were signs in the last 2 home games that things were about to click but then that was followed by one of, if not the poorest displays of the season.
Should Pugh have actually started? Why was Udoh left to play the lone striker role? Why did it take us 75 minutes to get going? Plenty of questions on a poor night against a home team who looked bang average themselves.
The recent signings of Daniels and Pugh (albeit only until January) is a clear indication that the Chairman continues to have confidence in the manager, for now. At the same time I am sure that the Chairman, with all his experience will already have contingency plans in place should things not improve over the next month or so. One thing in the manager's favour is that we are not currently cast adrift at the bottom of the table. He does have some time on his side, for now.
It's now up to the management team and the players to get us out of this rut. There is a lot of experienced heads in that squad and I hope that the manager is willing to listen and be open to their feedback. The younger inexperienced players will want to see decisive leadership within the camp. One example from last night was Dan Udoh. At times he looked lost and his body language told us everything we didn't want to see. It didn't look good and we desperately need the confidence of some points on the board over the coming weeks.
With all the resources that he has been given the manager must do better.
I'll be honest, I've lost confidence in the manager but I do have confidence in our Chairman and I know that if/when the time comes he will do the right thing for our club.
Ultimately, we have worked too hard to establish ourselves as a league one club, let's not throw it away please.

Careful what you wish for, knowing Roland it'll be the cheap option and we'll end up with Telford or Kidderminster's gaffer.
Just want someone who plays football with a good tempo and intent, attempts to split defenses with passes and doesn't always play safe and sideways. The current outlook is trying not to concede, playing safe, slow tempo and a lack of intent with no plan B.

Looking increasingly like a bunch of players going through the motions rather than a team prepared to roll their sleeves up and play for their manager - when that happens it’s time to go. I’ve tried to support Ricketts but his brand of football, constant tinkering and seeming lack of ability to get his players to perform for him suggests it’s time for change - I’d be on the phone to Nigel Clough who has experience within this league and importantly working for a chairman very much in the Wycherley ilk

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
