I know that there isnt a lot of interest in this competition but just wondered what team anyone thought we should put out for this game bearing in mind we havent won in three games and winning any game surely has to boost a teams confidence. I would like to see Burgoyne back in goal to give him a lift although unlikely to play at the weekend. Also Udoh and Cummings forming a partnership up front with Daniels and Tracey out wide. Its a good competition to have a look at different players and formations but a win is important now to get our season up and running.

Hope Ebanks-Landell recovers soon - that looked a really nasty incident and amazing it happened in the first few seconds (think the teams were still being read out). As for the Checkatrade game we should play as strong a team as possible and try to get into the winning habit.

i think our best new dodgy keeper will start
pierre obviously, wondering if fossey might be tried at cb, although that might go against fulhams rules, sears and love to get tested
really annoying about tracey, could this be sorted in time ?
no idea on edwards, norburn, but i'd play them if available
i'd like to see a 4-4-2 with uhoh & pyke up top

Understandable if we make changes at the back because we need to adjust because of injuries and we might want to try something new there but other than I'd keep it the same.
Looking to the performance on Saturday, I just think players weren't on the same wavelength at times. The more time this team can come together and play the better. Appreciate that goes for the most part anyhow but when you're asking players to play the game slightly different to last season, at times its needed a little more. And looking to what we are trying to do, I think a game against a Premier League reverse side would be a great opportunity to work and improve on that.

In 2018-19 he scored 5 in 23 appearances. Not world beating, but you can't say he didn't score. Also, but for a great save by Macgillivray, he would have scored in both of our opening two competitive games. Would you have singled him out then, I wonder?

I reckon Burgoyne will get a start to try to raise his confidence after the other week. We have, after all, got to use someone every time Sarkic goes off on International duties.

Ther are only three CMs left
Daniels, Goss, Edwards, Norburn all out
Guess its got to be Walker, Vela, High
And they will have to play together Saturday too unless Norburn is back or Goss finally gets fit.

Strong team v pretty weak newcastle team. Don't think any of those Newcastle players will find themselves very near the first team this season.
Guess the team more or less picks itself as Sears, Barnett and Udoh the only players who haven't started yet this season - time to impress. Places very much up for grabs.
Time for a few goals hopefully and some run outs for some town youth later on in the game. And most importantly no injuries please!

Not a single one of those Newcastle players will be anywhere near the first team. We should flatten them comfortably.

Town on top, not surprisingly. A good game to stretch the legs, get a few goals and build some momentum.
