Just bought a subscription to watch the Town game on Friday. Now I have all the electronic gizmos but how do I go about watching it? Can I play it on a laptop and then stream it to my Smart TV? Is there an App that I can install on my TV to stream directly.
No doubt I will soon learn the procedure. Can anyone advise please?

Stream it on your laptop and plug in a HDMI between laptop/tv to get it onto tv

You would need the kit to wireless transfer it to the TV via Chrome Cast simple box that plugs into your TV then you can stream off your phone or laptop via a google chrome web browser they are around £30.

Just a heads up but if you're going down the laptop>HDMI>TV route, make sure your display settings are set to extend and not duplicate, otherwise your laptop will be running two streams of the same thing and the input lag can make it unbearable

Can a pub landlord pay £10 and link it to a tv in the pub, or are there different rules ?

Can a pub landlord pay £10 and link it to a tv in the pub, or are there different rules ? I would suspect that would be very dubious but having not read the ifollow T&C not 100% sure. Public broadcast is usually prohibited which is why pubs have to pay shed loads to $ky!

Now the question is how does a public place get the appropriate permission at whatever extorionate fee is payable?

Now the question is how does a public place get the appropriate permission at whatever extorionate fee is payable? As per 2.8.2 I think you’d need to write to iFollow to find out. I’ve suggested a suitable email template below: “Dear iFollow, I have been made aware during an internet forum exchange with Swanseadazza that your Terms & Conditions, Clause 2.8.2, stipulate that your written consent is required to telecast football matches outside of a private/domestic setting. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic I would like to broadcast games to customers in my Working Men’s Club / Sports Gelateria / Craven Arms Chip Shop (delete as appropriate). What’s the craic with this? Warm regards Staffy” Note: My personal opinion is you don’t raise the issue of associated costs at this juncture as they might not have thought about this. Hope this helps.

Probably sit at home and listen to Stuart Dunn

No lagging, good quality video and not hugely behind (eg goal alerts actually came after the goal!). Even the highlights happened quickly which I didn't really expect. £10 feels a lot when you compare it to subscriptions, but clearly it's a lot cheaper than matches and hope most of it goes to the club?

Its great. When it was first announced it was like Christmas come early. Crazy when you think about it that back in the day we were sat in front of the TV waiting for Teletext to loop and now we're sat down watching the game in its entirety. And that's even from here in Stuttgart, Germany. And its coming on. At first there was now graphics, no commentary and no replays. And with the current situation its great that anyone who isn't able to get to the stadium is able to tune in and watch the games. I don't know whether its possible somehow or whether anyone is interested but I was wondering if we could come together in someway to watch games? What with all the Zoom meetings and like we're all now getting used to working from home, is anyone interested in coming together and watching a game? I have no idea if it could work but something to consider. I guess you could be watching it on the laptop and also join some online meeting. Just a thought anyhow... I suppose the only issue might be the lag in the footage.

Might still be more than the club would have made had the tie been played in front of a small crowd though. Be interesting to know how the financials broke down. Of course, it would help if some people who intended to watch it had twigged it was a 5:30 kick off and not arrived home with the game just gone to 3-1 in the second half! That's my excuse anyway.

I wonder how much of the fee finds it's way into the Clubs coffers.

I wonder how much of the fee finds it's way into the Clubs coffers. there was some sort of explanation recently, cant remember where i saw it, £8 sticks in my head, also it matters how many away fans sign up and some sort of algorithm is used taking into account how many normally attend that exact away game with the away club benefitting for additional sales

I’ve been using ifollow to watch midweek games for a few years now, and the quality of the streams is usually very good, not all of the time but it’s rare when it does buffer or cut off altogether.

If you've got a smart TV can you not just stream it through the TV. When ever I've paid to watch a Salop game I've just logged on using the web browser on the telly!
