Maybe. But an awful lot has been taken as "very likely" when it comes to things around Brexit. You might well be right but I guess only time will tell. 👍

Tariffs will tell. If cars made here and going to the Euro market are subjject to a tariff then firms will look to avoiding that tariff or getting such an advantage by being here that it's still worth their while.

A basic old fashioned Landrover Defender on offer secondhand at £25000 (+VAT) and it's a 2014 vintage. So there was scope for a vehicle built in Britain to sell well as the new Landrover even around 40 to 50K. But not a vehicle made in France.
Renault own Dacia and it's got an old Renault engine, so go through about four Dacia Dusters and run them into the ground. You do the maths.

The Japanese must be laughing their heads off. A solid, reliable 4x4 made in France? It's a dead duck.

Hambach Germany , Mercedes-Benz plant. Germany? That's not such good news. But, if the price is high and Landrover can improve quality, then it's Hambachs at dawn in the competition stakes.

Worth noting that for the last year figures are available 2019 Britain exported about 600,000 cars to the 27 eu countries and imported 1.8 million from the 27 eu countries. The large majority of car Nissan make are sold in the UK so by moving there factory to Europe they would actually sell less cars than before. It make no sense for Nissan to move to Europe which is why they have not done so and are actually expanding production there and in paticular in there battery factory which is in Sunderland

It make no sense for Nissan to move to Europe which is why they have not done so and are actually expanding production there and in paticular in there battery factory which is in Sunderland from wiki "In 2016, Britain was the largest single export market for German manufacturers, who sold 800,000 new cars there, or 20 percent of their overall global exports".with germany car manufacturers seling nearly half the cars imported from the EU. it will be intresting to see if they can keep that up with chinese companies making so many electric cars most of these companies have been set up from a starting point of just developing electric cars. the MG5EV Estate has been getting very good reviews with a range of 214 miles and a starting price of£24,995 and the Polestar is a serious contender against Tesla. no suprise that china is the biggest and fastest market for electric cars.
