Moeen dropped. Beginning to look like the end for him, which will certainly benefit Worcestershire, who desperately need a spinner and middle order batsman.
I'm not surprised. Had Billings got the required support from the other end then we might have got close in the 1st game. Instead, we got Moeen's disastrous cameo, leaving Billings to have to bat with the bowlers.

England have elected to bat.
Ali and Wood replaced by the Currans.

Australia unchanged, Steve Smith still out.

Poor batting so far, the top 3 look like shadows of their best selves at the moment. Probably excusable given the nature of this summer but just shows how much we rely on them and got used to them getting us off to flying starts.

Sounds like going to be another relative low scoring game. It's the same wicket as the first ODI so hopefully Auusies will struggle too.

Bit of a procession today as Australia dominate with the ball. Fortunately the tail have given us something to bowl at.

Eng 231-9 (50 overs) Nice batting from Rashid and Tom Curran at the end there .... gives them both a little bit to bowl at anyway

After the excitement of winning the first two 20-20, I think we’ll lose the 3 ODIs.

Well well well Aussies collapse again from 144-2 to 207 all out.
All on the final ODI

Low scoring ODIs can be the most exciting. A great fightback by England 😀

Andy Zaltzman - Test Match Special statistician
"Today was the 13th time England have found themselves 0-2 - it has happened eight times in Tests, three times in ODis and twice in T20 cricket. It is, however, the first time they have been 0-2 after two balls."

England 302-7 of 50 overs. Seemed unlikely at 0-2. Hopefully we can defend it.

Well Morgan got that spectacularly wrong, continuing with Archer and Rashid. Why they keep picking Archer, I don’t know.
Well done Aussies for great run chase.

Wood only bowling 9 cost us big time.

I'd say 31 runs between 4 of the top 5 batsmen on what looked like a batters' pitch was as big a contribution to the defeat as what happened later.

Wood or Curran would surely have been a better bet to have bowled that last over rather than Rashid.
That said, Buttler dropping an easy chance offered by Maxwell when he was only 44 effectively cost us the game.

Yes, Wood or Curran should have bowled the last over. Morgan's gamble didn't pay off, but that's sport for you.
I'm just thankful to have watched all the superb games against the Windies, Pakistan and the Aussies and, although none of them will see this post, to thank them for coming over to play us.

Genius from Morgan to bring Rashid back from the 48th
Very strange to leave him on for the 50th against 2 tailenders
