I still REALLY dont see this one happening. It would be a huge heart over head moment for this to happen and i just dont think Ricketts would take the gamble.
However if he did then he hasn't achieved anything here as yet so we would move on. Maybe we could tempt Askey back đŚ

I think a manager change for us right now would be a good thing. We should be able to kick on next season being in a financially stable position compared to most others in the division and could attract a manager of a much better standard than ricketts.
Hopefully there is some truth in it and itâs goodbye Sam.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if ricketts took the job. He's not exactly been welcomed from a fair portion of our fans who have wanted him out since he wasn't Paul Hurst. I can't imagine he sees the fan base as behind him.
I do not want PH back but there's something poetic about him returning and being a flop to get it out of our system. Bit like returning to an ex and after a few months remembering why they're an ex...

Especially now heâs just gone through the retain list so must have been approached since then?

Been a great custodian whilst in post, showing humility during the current crisis. Always displayed dignity to the fans and club when a vocal minority hounded him and wrote him off from day one.
I donât think I could sum up any better how dim witted a minority are, than point out the same people who said âAskey is a w****r who never clapped usâ, proceeded to hound Ricketts like animals when he had the decency to appreciate the support.
Rome wasnât built in a day. I hope he stays

Must be in the minority on here, but I hope he stays to.

Must be in the minority on here, but I hope he stays to. Nope, I agree, he has just about managed to get his players in.... and boom will get someone else who will think they are all s**te and want his own.... will end up costing us a fortune

If he wants to go, let him go. King Hurst leaving felt like a dagger to the heart but Sam? Very unremarkable manager with a very unremarkable team, Bolton are welcome to him.

If he wants to go he will go, but there is no evidence to say he does want to go. Just a name in the frame and flattering that he's in that position. He's come a long way since his spell at that non league non-entity and I hope he plans to continue the progress here.

Same here, Really I still don't get the hate he gets, especially after the way the fanbase came up with reasons Askey needed to go. He's been our best off the field manager since Mellon and has brought well in transfers. Sure, the football hasn't been great every game but really?!

If Ricketts goes, the same people that had the knives out for Askey and the knives out for Ricketts will be getting them sharpened for the new manager before weâve even got one appointed.
Yes last season was unremarkable but at this current moment in time, weâre better placed to break into the top half next season if Ricketts stays and builds on his squad than if a new manager comes in with new ideas and demands yet another overhaul.

Please, please, PLEASE if thereâs a God out there make this come true!!
As if these past few months havenât been bad enough, the last thing I want to do is watch Rickettsball once again next season. Allow Bolton permission to speak and get rid Roland.

Let's be honest, even his biggest fans won't exactly be shedding a tear if he was to go. His sheer pig headiness to constantly play full backs as wing backs added to his post match tripe means I won't be to disheartened. Would like Chris Powell if he were to go.

Amazed that some fans are so keen to have a 4th manager in 2 years.
Hope he stays. We should be building, not starting all over again.

Interesting Bolton fans seem to think heâs done a good job.
Now I know they will be seeing âlittle old Shrewsburyâ in 15th and think fair play, but perhaps they are right to an extent? This is about our level and will take a very good manager to push a club our size much above it sustainably.
Agree the football could be dry and boring

I was wrong after Tranmere. We shouldnât have sacked him. Evidently Roland knows what he was doing because he foresaw that Bolton might actually pay us money to take him off our hands.
Not only will we not have to pay him off, weâll actually get money for him!
Dire football for nearly two years and now hopefully we might get a manager willing to inject a bit of bite into this team going forward. We have the squad to do it.
Still no idea what SR has actually done in his managerial career to inspire such interest in him though. He had Wrexham in the playoffs when he left us and has two bottom half finishes on his CV in this division. No promotions to speak of.
Bolton fans are going to love him.

Can see why Bolton fans think he's decent getting us to 15th, but they just look at the results and don't have to sit through the games. No doubt he speaks well and I really appreciate the work he does with the local community which not every manager does, like delivering those Shrewsbury Town packages to fans a month or so ago. But I have to be honest I'd be pretty happy if Bolton took him and even paid us for him, I just can't get excited at the thought of another season of Ricketsball.

Also they one game they saw us this season we rolled up to a Bolton team who were makeshift, full of kids and had hardly won. They then went down to 10 men, and we were awful and only just got a draw!!! Not a glowing recommendation.

Level headed, with his feet firmly on the ground, that's our man. But he did start to go for it a little in the last few games. Now is not the time to be having to bring in a new manager.

These things are often shrouded in mystery but I wonder if Ricketts' agent is using the Bolton vacancy as an opportunity to improve his existing 2.5 year deal here or hammer out a new one?
