I'm not missing the pub so much as the people who drink in it. I really enjoy having a pint with friends and others who I know very well when I go out a couple of night of the wick. We keep in touch by text, but it's not the same. I was talking to a neighbour and she said although her and her partner have drinks at home, they miss the banter of pub life. Our town is a friendly place and under normal circumstances tourists are made very welcome.
I know there's good reasons for the lockdown, but the sooner we get back to where we were before the better. as far as I'm concerned.
You missing the local?

Definitely. As damage limitation, the day after Boris closed the pubs, I had 36 bottles of beer delivered by my local micro brewery. I'm now on my 2nd 36!
But I'm not someone who in the past has ever consumed alcohol at home. The few bottles of beer I've had in the cupboard were probably well past their sell by date. The pub has always been my second home for well over 50 years.

Yea, I've got some beer in, but it's not the same. On the plus side for the dragon, she gets to call me a drunken old stoat, without having to wait for me to come in.

You are fortunate you weren't the bloke in the pub I once was in, whose wife turned up with his Sunday lunch, dumped it on the bar, and said that he might as well have it there.

There's been a few amazing stories about life in the pub down the years. In fact, before I came to my senses, I did a few amazing things myself.
Juan of my favourite stories came from the owd Beer Festival we hold in July each year. I went out with the Bro in Law on the Friday evening. We went to the Juan pub and there sat a friend of mine who cheerily waved to us. This bloke had been entertaining mates from away, who had by this time had left fully refreshed. When we sat down by me owd mucker, it was obvious he was very well refreshed indeed.
He decided a good way to soak up the beer was with a couple of hot dogs. So he went and brought them back to the table. Each hot dog was enclosed in a serviette with a generous topping of fried onions. Much to my surprise my mate turned the hot dog to the vertical position, depositing the onions on his lap, then to my horror he started devouring the hot dog complete with serviette. Now I can't say eating a serviette is on my CV, but by the way the bloke was contentedly munching away, they are obviously delicious. Then he did a repeat performance on the second dog.
When I saw him the next weekend he had no recognition of it at all, but his dropped in utter disappointment as he said, "Aaaaw, I love onions as well.....".

Definitely missing a night in the pub. I should lose some weight at least. I have avoided drinking at home. 2 bottles of beer since the pubs closed

Never been one for drinking at home. I feel sorry for a lot of the old boys in the pub where their only social interaction sometimes can be the pub and the people in it. They'll be a lot of lonely people about at the moment.

I don't miss the pub at all, only go after a Saturday home game or weds to play dominoes, I drive on weds so don't drink, stopping going to power bar before a game since the beginning of the season, mainly due to the price hikes and lack of bar staff, literally had 1 and a half pints anywhere since January

Dont miss it, a little bit of positivity from the lockdown is the money saved and potential weight loss from the lack of alcohol.
But I do miss the choice, for example the other day we took the dog for a walk and then went a slightly different route which came put by the Prince of Wales, a pub I like but rarely use. It was a nice day and we would have popped in for a couple normally but obviously couldn't.

To be honest even after lockdown ends , things will be very different and the virus will still be around. Who then is going to risk visting a pub , with its confined space etc.

If anyone thinks life will be back to normal after the lockdown ends, then they need to take a reality check. So you won't be going to football matches? Much more contact with people than the pub, and for longer. You won't wait on a platform to catch a train? Or queue at the bus stop? Or go into a supermarket when distancing is lifted? People have got to go to work, their families depend on it. The government need the takes. I think it's you that needs the reality check, owd lad.

The Government have already hinted at one of the recent briefings that life will enter a new normal nothing like we had before. Believe what you want but I think you will be in for a shock in what will follow this.

Believe what you want but I think you will be in for a shock in what will follow this. In what way? All sorts of horrors. Immunity certificates, face masks (more like gas masks for the over 60s), further lengthy lockdowns for the vulnerable, all sport played behind closed doors, increased surveillance via mobile phones. The list is endless.

With 10,000 deaths and seeing Boris nearly pop his clogs I am not missing going to the pub, hardly at all. Anyway, they have Spitfire, Marston's EPA and Pedigree at £1 a bottle in Morrisons.
We'll adapt, be sensible but switch our phones off if we get fed up of being monitored, it's what humans do.

Who knows? Matt Hancock mentioned surveillance via mobile phones in his briefing today. It's an App that can be used to track people who have been near, or in contact with victims, or those who have been infected. Stop making things out to be so bad.
