Ahead of Her Maj addressing the nation this evening, and in the spirit of those within the high earners category being asked by Government Ministers to ‘ do their bit’ should she give up 30% of this years Civil List payments ?
And should she be imploring all members of the wider royal family to contribute to a fund for the purchase of vital NHS supplies? Perhaps she would consider offering up any number of their various properties as sites for field hospitals and quarantine centres. Be a lovely gesture that from our head of state

Charles could chuck in a fair wad from his Duchy of whatever . He must be making money hand over fist . Of course it won’t happen . I would also like to hang that obnoxious t**t Branson upside down and shake him . See how much money falls out of his pockets . One minute he’s thinking of trying to get money out of the NHS , the next he’s got the begging bowl out asking the Government for a bail out whilst he relaxes at his private island . Can’t stand the man , absolute f.ckstick .

So the man who started virgin records, virgin airways and everything else that has employed (and supported their livelihoods) perhaps hundreds of thousands of people over the last 30 years is an absolute f.ckstick? God help us all....

Obviously. But the thread is about HRH!! Indeed. And the symmetry between the clamour for footballers to ‘play their part’ but no like minded campaign for Royalty, Hedge Fund managers, CEO’s of multi-nationals et al to play theirs.

God help us all.... Nearly 50 years actually, but facts hey, why let them get in the way of an argument?
No-one is saying that he hasn't had a broadly beneficial impact on the UK in that time, but he does pretty bloody well out of it too. It's hardly as if he isn't making a bloody good living out of it. His greed and lust for power and influence are begining to outweigh the benefits that he has brought.
Suing the NHS for not winning a contract was the final straw for some people and he lost many peoples respect. Not the lickspittles that think the sun shines out of his 'arris obviously, but most reasonable people.

Virgin and Stagecoach were stripped of the east coast franchise last year after admitting they could not meet the promised £3.3bn in contract payments, but were under no obligation to meet that forgone financial promise. It was the third time in 12 years that a private operator had been removed from Britain’s most prestigious rail route after failing to deliver the billions of pounds they had promised to the taxpayer."

The Queen has just highlighted why she is irreplaceable to this nation. By making a bland pre-written speech from the comfort of one of her palaces or castles? Oh ffs, spare me from this cap-doffing lickspittle nonsense.

My point obviously wasn't that she should have done the speech any differently, but that the speech does nothing to, as you argue, highlight how irreplaceable she is.

I know what your point was, however bad it was being made. Waking up this morning every paper front page, president of America talking about it, headlines across the WORLD.....know tell me who could delivery a message that has that audience???..... so yes she is irreplaceable.

I have never forgiven Richard Branson for the very first record release on the Virgin label, the truly awful Tubular Bells. Worth noting also that for the past 14 years he has been a resident of his own private island and during this period paid zero tax to the UK. He is now asking for 500million from the UK government and 700million from the Australian government to bail his airline out. Strange days indeed.

The Queen is being a rock for those that like that sort of thing, at her age we can't ask for more. Prince Willy is first patron of the National Emergencies Trust (NET) funding. and doing his bit. Prince Charles got it. Prince Andrew and Edward, don't know of any value they have? The Royal Family are part of the uniqueness of Great Britain. Would not want to be without them, but maybe a bit cheaper.

They may take a fair bit out of the coffers, but they also bring a fair whack back in. And whose to say a President would cost any less. The above four are paid outrageous sums for their various 'activities' as it is. But having said that, yes, I do agree that they should take a cut in the present circumstances.

I think the people who have truly shown their worth over the last month or so, are amongst the lowest paid in the country.
They are most likely to me migrant workers, particularly in care. The sort of people targeted during the Brexit 'debate' and the recent election. The sort of people who probably wouldn't have enough 'points' to get in the country if Patel (I can't do numbers either, but my press mates let me get away with it) has her way.
It's hard to feel any infinity with a family that has had a privileged life, and while they may work hard, well so do care workers.
I really hope at the end of all this, there's a change in attitude to the care sector, health professional, retail workers and bin men/women.
Somehow I doubt it though.

Apparently 1 in 5 in the UK Care sector are foreign Of those 1, 72% are non EU. Let’s not move a serious issue (Corona) back to political agendas yet again

Let’s not move a serious issue (Corona) back to political agendas yet again Having enough care workers is a serious issue. Serious enough to warrant extra funding from the European Social Fund..... And, as I have pointed out on another thread, if the government are happy to politicise the current situation then so am I. You don't have to get involved, that's up to you.
