I haven't had to use the NHS too much myself lately, but I'm currently helping out someone who is. If there is any better bunch of fine people in any country in the world, they are very, very, lucky indeed.
Bless them all. xx

The amount of Tory voters that have passively (or actively) supported their party's wholesale dismantling of the NHS, all of sudden realising that do actually need it is quite frankly embarrassing. Nursing, teaching, care work, transport and logistics, food production, refuse collection, police, fire service, social work, construction and thousands of other jobs must be better paid once this is all over. If it wasn't for all these people working day in, day out this country would grind to a halt.

Working for Severn Trent I’d like to give a big shout out to my colleagues. Keeping water supply and quality at this difficult time crucial.👍👍

from the mail online "an outbreak of coronavirus among the vulnerable residents of a care home could have devastating consequences. So nine compassionate staff at Bridgedale House home in Sheffield have taken the extraordinary step of isolating themselves with the 23 dementia patients they look after. They have given up on going home after their shifts – because on their return they could be carrying the deadly contagion. The devoted nine – including a cook, cleaner, manager and carers – are staying in the residential home round the clock for at least two weeks".

I work for British Gas and our engineers are continuing to fix and replace boilers even in properties self isolating and even infected.... plenty of others doing the same Going to give a shout out for my son many will know him, Oli the steward now in Safe Standing between block 9 & 10 used to be in front of 18/19, works as a home carer continuing to visit and help his vulnerable clients with little more than rubber gloves and a plastic apron makes me proud 👏👏👏👏👏👏

And it’s not just the doctors, nurses and GPs in the NHS, there are loads of unsung administrators, managers, clerks etc behind the scenes who keep the NHS going, who are never mentioned and often maligned as pen-pushers. Without them the equipment wouldn’t get organised, nurses get paid etc.

Some really good points being made here. With regards my work, I never take the credit for anything really. I’m more than happy to take the blame, but my team take every ounce of credit for the incredible work they do. And rightly so.
However, as I’ve said on Facebook, we are just a cog in a wheel. If we don’t eat we don’t work, if we don’t have fuel, we don’t work, if we don’t have supplies we don’t work, if all the other cogs such as truck drivers, shop workers, teachers, farmers, the guys at Severn Trent, the police, the bin men, and so many others arnt doing what they do, we are stuffed.
👍

Well said. Corbyn was bang on in his interview yesterday with Kuenssberg. Whether this current situation will change people's outlook remains to be seen though.

I think for the first time ever I am agreeing with everything said on this posting.
How can I not ??
So, massive applause for all NHS staff and carers is most definitely deserved, as they are most probably in the most dangerous workplace.
And huge applause too for everyone else who is working their socks off to keep the country running and all essentials transported to various destinations.
Well done everyone. TOTAL RESPECT Stay safe.

Shut up.... fool, who has ever supported dismantling the NHS, it’s a great labour soundbite.... Please don’t politicise this outbreak... if you want to go on an anti Tory thing then do it on a seperate thread.... in times of need... don’t be a knob!!

Shut up.... fool, who has ever supported dismantling the NHS, For someone with such a long and distinguished record of talking absolute s**te on here ( and I admit that it can sometimes be a strong competition) this really is your finest hour. Never mind, ‘dont politicise this outbreak’ just go and self-isolate somewhere and give your head a shake. You’ve just done exactly that !

Totally agree, some posters on here who are using this as a political platform should be ashamed of themselves. This is about the great work the NHS is doing in an unprecedented situation, and if you want to start a new thread about political issues go ahead, you are not welcome on this thread.

My super wife, Chris, was a nurse for 30 years. The final 10 were in what is now known as, "Care Of The Elderly". (That's come in useful ), but for some reason, she enjoyed it. There were dementia patients amongst them before it was taken seriously. On some days/nights, there were only 2 nurses for 28 patients. The ones sitting in chairs had to be lifted into bed before she came home.I know she still gets back pains to this day, commonly known as "Nurses back". Being poor as a church mouse, and trying to bring up 2 kids, we used to shop at was then budget supermarkets. It used to annoy the hell out of me when she used to put soap and talcum powder in the trolley for work because there wasn't any available for the old folk. She also had a half dozen spare nighties which she used to wash for the patients who had s**t themselves. Who was in power? Labour/Conservatives. *Delete as necessary.
