A white 1979 Triumph Dolomite Sprint.....with overdrive. I thought I was James Bond flicking the switch on the gear knob!

Toss up between my first sporty car, a Cavalier SRi and my Citroen BX, but I think the BX just nicks it for handling. I used to live down by the beet factory and loved driving down that road. Even managed to get from Halesfield home in 7 minutes flat once.
Worst was a Talbot Tagora, what an absolute crock of s**te, even worse than an Allegro I once had the misfortune to own.
I also owned a gold Renault 5 TL and that wasn't half bad, better than the Renault 12 that preceded it anyhow.
I used to work for a car rental company and got drive everything from Polos and Metros to Mercs and Scorpios (going back a bit) and we had Volvo 850 T5s on the fleet. Wow, they were fun.

A friend of mine used to have a Sprint in his garage and decided to get the garage converted into a new kitchen. While he was at work and the Sprint was on the drive someone asked his missus if he could buy it and she flogged it for £200

Used to love the old VW beetle and had 3 of them, and there was a guy in Trench who used to specialise in them, think his name was Ray. You could put the old Porsche air cooled engine in the beetle and it was very fast but difficult to stop. It's been German or Japanese for me for a while now, like the reliability and quality. Toyota MR2 MK1 the poor mans Ferrari but what a car.

When I first passed my test (1st time 😇) I used to borrow my dads Humber Super Snipe Estate... it was enormous, you could easily get 4 in the front (bench seat) 5 in the back and 6 in the rear! Reg was LTV 906 so late 50’s maybe 60..... I then went on to own many cars I’ll see if I can remember them all The Humber Super Snipe. I can remember the later models when I was a little kid, but every model looked gorgeous en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humber_Super_Snipe

I can remember the later models when I was a little kid, but every model looked gorgeous en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humber_Super_SnipeThat's a really nice looking old car! Have liked most of the few (6) cars I have owned, which were: A brown Fiat 131 Supermirafiori which I bought off a guy in the pub when I was learning to drive. Was a junker and I only drove it a couple of times before someone crashed into it while it was parked outside my house and wrote it off. Would die to own it now though - super retro cool. A Mitsubishi Pajero Mini. Pajero (which apparently means w**ker in Spanish!) is the Japanese name for the Shogun 4x4. The Pajero mini is a little 660cc turbo version we have here, in the cheap-to-tax Japanese mini (or "kei") class. I have had both the mk1 and mk2 of this car. It was really fun to drive. Between them, I had a Nissan Wingroad (a Japan domestic market only family estate). It was pretty ordinary really, no bad points but nothing memorable either. Then I had a VW Bora (may have been sold as a Jetta in some markets). That one I really loved, but it drank petrol like it was going out of fashion and the interior started falling to bits so we didn't bother fixing it up and just drove it into the ground then scrapped it. And last is my current car, a first-gen second-revision Nissan Leaf. I adore almost everything about this car except its range, which being the first model with a fairly small now aging battery is very limited. The Leaf has a pretty wallowy ride and some people dislike the game conroller-like lack of feel of the very light electronic steering (personally I like it). It's not fast, but as with most EVs, the instant torque makes it feel much more manic and powerful than it actually is. You never get bored of that rush, that tingle, that feeling inside you get when you floor an EV!

Used to drive to Mimizan and that area in the 90's for the camping holiday, the one where it is already put up for you. Drove down there once in the old Fiat Panda 4x4 and one of the spark plugs packed in. Drove for about 100 miles before I could get a replacement, absolute nightmare, it took hours because we were driving at night and nowhere was open, miserable wife and kids doesn't even touch the sides!!!

Traded in the first car I owned (1976 1275 allegro with vinyl roof) for a 1976 MG Midget - loved it, toured to Holland in it. had to get rid of it when the missus was pregnant and could not fit behind the wheel, and she had to roll out onto the pavement to get out.

Those early Vauxhall Victors rusted away as you looked at them, almost ruined Vauxhall in UK. Remarkably there's one in daily use in Timperley. I'd put a photo up if I knew how.

A memory of a performance car, my director had a Ford Cosworth 4 x 4. It was stolen from the office car park one morning and used as a get away car in a bank robbery in Manchester in the afternoon.
It was later recovered undamaged. The police advised him to get rid of it as it would be targeted again, he loved the car and refused. He just had all the badges removed and referred to it as his Q car.

I’ve searched for pictures but my dads was different, red with a the bottom third black with a large red BERLINETTA on it looked very sporty! A bit different to most of his cars. My brother Clive worked in car Sales for 40 years and Dads car choice sort of followed his son around. He started at Kennings then Column Garage selling Simca’s.. went onto Charles Clark’s Greenhous then Hills so my Dad ended up with a Mercedes

Going back to my earlier post on this, concerning my first car. Early 1960's mini 850, gearstick about 6ft long, headlight dip switch on the floor, and all of the refinement of a metal shed on wheels. Nevertheless my "boy racer" days lasted less than 24 hours when I tried to squeeze it between another car and a wall when the gap was big enough for a motorbike. Learnt a costly lesson and it slowed me up a bit. Next car was the mighty Vauxhall Viva, which compared to the mini was unbelievable luxury, unfortunately I put too much oil in the engine one day and it died.

My first car (bought in 1984) was a Triumph 2000 - 67 model - in British racing green for $A700 dollars. I needed a hammer to get it into first once stopped and it caught fire (with a broken brake line) once which was put out by a random with a hose after i managed to pull into a side street with no brakes. Still miss it!
