I will be falling over, apparently, bridge of nose. forehead and under nose looking a mess. all after hand bleeding in an altercation with a piece of rough plastic on a Waitrose trolley earlier - not my day. I will be self isolating until I don't look like I have just done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. Thankfully no visit to A&E required, just spoiled my good looks. i am sorry you have temporarily lost you good looks and hope you feel better soon.

I’ve just cut the front and back lawns . I’m hoping they grow like buggery so that I can cut them again before Saturday . I’m walking up the Longmynd tomorrow and Nescliffe possibly Thursday . Anything to keep myself occupied but safe . I’ve really discovered radio 3/4 , some excellent prongs. on radio. I’m in for the long haul together with everyone else . We will get through this without a doubt but our world will be changed forever . We will certainly need to look very closely at becoming more self sufficient, to producing more of our own food . Could this horrendous situation signal the end of globalization? i think companies will be looking at there over realiance on supply chains from china. i dont think people will change they like flying too much and all the gizmos that use so much of the worlds resources. for things to change it would require a long term plan and a goverment to look long term with a vision of less reliance on imported food, equally people would need to eat food on a seasonal basis and not demand fresh 24/7 365 days of the year. www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/oct/03/giant-world-first-low-carbon-greenhouses-grow-20-tonnes-of-tomatoes-a-daya 120 milion pound investment will produce 10% of the uk/s tomatoes vertical farming can grow a range of vegetables for 90% less water , they can also grow 20 times more produce per acre than convential farming, Jeffrey Bezos founder of Amazon is one of the backers to have a vertical farm near every major city in the USA , this will bring down transport costs, there is a trade off in that vertical farming does use electricity , however such farms can be built on brown sites . www.timeout.com/london/blog/you-can-now-take-a-tour-of-an-urban-fish-poo-farm-at-roof-east-070417"Sitting on swanky Stratford rooftop Roof East is GrowUp Box, the UK’s first aquaponics farm in a shipping container and east London’s answer to the future of agriculture. Aquaponics, if you’re wondering, is a revolutionary farming technique, combining hydroponics (growing plants in water without soil) and aquaculture (fish farming). Inside you’ll find tanks full of fish, whose poo makes for nutrient-rich water. This is pumped to the plants in the greenhouse above, which in turn filter the water for the fish. This cyclical process produces more than 250kg of fish and 400kg of salad and herbs a year, including lettuce, rocket and mint." "The project – set up with a Kickstarter campaign – aims to fix flaws in the way our food is grown. Traditional agriculture currently accounts for 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, 70 percent of freshwater use and around half of available land on Earth. The folks at GrowUp Box hope to build vertical farms in cities using empty rooftops and brownfield sites, reducing transport emissions by selling their produce to local businesses." these site is small a lettuce can be grown in 28 days in an Aquaponic farm. such a simple solution to a food supply problem, that reduces transpot congestion, reduces water production it does not a have a zero carbon as it uses electricity but solar panels can reduce some of that.

Plan to paint as much of the house as I can so that then I can spend my time watching it dry. Try greyhound racing on Channel 175, which has more or less the same effect unless you have a betting app. This is now the only sport left! It's sometimes presented by Tanya Stevenson, who used to be John McCririck's sidekick on Channel 4 Racing.

That is interesting, although it's hard to know how much reliance can be placed on such stats when matters are dealt with so differently in different countries. The UK's cases per million population figure is comparatively low but how much testing are we doing compared to others? I have 2 or 3 family members with symptoms who are self-isolating but haven't been tested, so they won't be included but could have the virus.

It’s difficult to interpret the worldopmeters website as they are comparing apples with pears in many cases. There is also a big time lag in the data being updated.

The uk has been critizised by the WHO for not testing enough. i hope your family members make a good recovery

Apparently I will be teaching our kids maths. Which I believe will test my patience (and my liver) to it’s limits if I have to do it for 12 weeks!

Just taken delivery of 36 bottles of beer from the local Chapel Brewery in Ellesmere for £72!
I recommend others in the area to do the same.

Mind you, the beers from the Chapel Brewery include Crypt, The Last Supper and Miracle! lol

Am listening to the full album of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. For Martians read coronavirus. That is a great album . I’m finding that I’m listening to stuff from years back , nostalgia at its finest . The Allman Bros. and Ramblin Man is going round and round in my head plus a bit of Buffalo Springfield with the superb Steven Stills later to join Crosby , Nash and Young . Also listening to people like Kenny Chesny and Jason Aldean. You’ve just got to make the most of the opportunity.😉

Thinking of taking up online poker..... any advice on best sites?
Is it better to start with an app (used to play 40 years ago but no doubt rusty) then move onto a betting site?

What an absolutely beautiful day , sun shining and me and my good lady pottering about in the garden. I have a very small veg patch plus some big pots/ containers which I’m sorting out . Going to bang in some runner beans in some , will have more than enough eventually for my family but a bit too early yet . Am in the middle of planting my pink fir apple potatoes. Later on will be sowing some salad crops . So, I am keeping busy , enjoying the excercise and looking forward to seeing my veg grow - and eating it .
If you have any pots / containers hanging around get them out , clean them and bung some soil / compost in them and grow some veg. Keep them covered until frost threat is over , keep them watered and put them out in the sun on days like this .
Happy growing - Keep safe all .

Thinking of taking up online poker..... any advice on best sites? Is it better to start with an app (used to play 40 years ago but no doubt rusty) then move onto a betting site? texas holdem I used to play years back, I was actually quite good, ed steer (rip) used to phone me and offer to take me to vegas and sponsor me, lol I was never brave enough for that but I will say it gets quite stressful when you get down to big calls late in a comp I did win a comp once with well over 1000 entries, and almost qualified for poker million once when I finished 8th in a qualifier having lost with 4 kings to 4 aces with him hitting his last ace after we went all in I would say start with sit a go tournaments, ideally 10 seater table with 5 winners doubling their money, you pay a one off entry fee and get the same amount of chips as all players, once comfy with this perhaps move onto 10 table where top 3 get paid beware of tournaments with rebuys , and stay well clear of cash play tables unless you are very good and have the patience of a saint I learnt to play from tv (its not on as much these days), and in the early online days I used to play online at poker million (now owned by ladbrokes) on free tables and when I found I was winning quite often I moved onto cash tourneys, but found it really stressful, could be why my health isn't great today to be honest finally there are strategies than you need to learn too, like bluffing and stealing and keep reading your opponents, if you can still find free tables I used to train myself to bluff and steal by hiding my hand until I won a tourney without actually seeing my hand once ;-)

Been painting up a sandwich board. On the front it says "The end of the World is nigh" and on the back "I told you so!".

Went for a drive today. Started up, moved a couple of metres, did what I wanted to do, then moved back a couple of metres.
