Seen a article about this ref. He was a very good ref in Australia- the best they’ve ever had. Came over here, think he’s doing a degree over here and plans to move up to the premier league.

If i'm honest, i'm less worried about the ref and more worried if we'll turn defence into attack at any point, or if it'll just be damage limitation. If they're on their game, Sunderland are ruthless on the attack as much as it pains me to say it.
Hopefully we start with a different midfield three as a minimum as they're far too defensive when you have a back three anyway.

I haven't heard anything yet but I do hope we'll not be hearing from Ricketts about Sunderland this and Sunderland that (as we had to endure before the Rotherham game). They're just the four points ahead of us. We are at home. No reason at all why we shouldn't be out to get our first league win against them...👍

We need to get Whalley in this side, he is simply too good to leave on the bench.

So here we go again. And I'll repeat myself....Again.. It's 442 for me Love Beckles William's Golbourne Whalley Norburn Thompson Giles Cummings Ok Or let's play the "frustrate" formation where Giles has no clue whether to go backwards or forwards and the three centre halfs launch it. Then an hour in bring on our most creative player and stick him in a position he's unfamiliar with. Town 0 Sunderland 1 ( Gooch 70). Post match Ricketts " There ex premier league with top class players. AAAHHHHHHH. STOOOPPP.

I forecast, given The Mackems' have sold out their away allocation, that we'll have a fair few infiltrating the home end.
Am I mistaken in the following observation. A few years' back at Millwall, Shrewsbury EBF were joined by a contingent of Newcastle fans intent on bother, leading me to conclude that there exists a relationship of sorts between the two groups.
Trouble ahead?

I would like to see a different formation at home to get Whalley into the starting line-up but I dont think Ricketts will change it against a potentially strong side like Sunderland who have proven finishers in this league. Its a shame the change of manager has come for them before this game (I think Parkinson is a really good appointment) but I suspect we will rise to the occasion a bit and it will be a tight game. Lets hope we can shade it 1-0 like we did against those other perennial under-achievers Portsmouth.

We were ok with that formation but we weren’t getting the best out of players. We changed to a 3-5-2 and it made a massive difference. I think something needs tweaking, we had Grant playing as a number 10 with Lawrence and Woods sitting. I’d like to see Goss and Norburn sitting, with Whalley in that number 10 role. I think it we are too defensive and this could help us become more creative, without doing anything too drastic.

1,500 Sunderland fans arriving at the ground is going to be a serious test for the newly located Fanzone I'd imagine.

Sunderland
Bigger club Higher in league Better players Better support
So in theory they should win this
That would keep all the stattos happy All the form book moaners happy The sam critics will be very happy And more importantly will keep the boo boys entertained
I’ll be supporting the town myself and hoping we can do something like we did against Pompey

I don’t do predictions, but I predict a one nil Town win with the goal coming from a rare attacking break away from defence, leaving all the Sunderland fans crying about how we didn’t deserve to win cos they were on top all game blah blah blah!

Can't afford Sunderland score first / early, SR challenged then to a plan B, heads can't drop like they did before. Get Shaun on, and stress Sunderland...they under pressure. They will or could have a 12th Man today , but could turn against them too. Missed opportunities against average Lincoln's and Gill's.. prediction. ...mmmm..0=0..

One of those hope for the best fear the worst type of games today.
On the plus side Sunderland should come out and attack which gives us a chance to play on the counter attack which is maybe our best way of playing at the moment, and with the weather like it is it might be a day for hard work and structure in the side rather than the creative players dictating the play.
On the downside Sunderland will be on a high after the new manager coming in and getting a good win, and there is a fear if they get ahead they could really dominate us. Certainly concerned our wing backs will be worked hard defensively so its important when we do get the ball our central midfielders get forward to support the attack.
Now where are my waterproofs and wellies...

www.safc.com/news/team-news/2019/october/parkinson-preview-shrewsbury-town“Shrewsbury will be pleased so far this season. They usually set-up in a 3-5-2 formation, they are a hard-working side and we have got to match that. “I expect us to and then it’s about exploiting them in areas and up to us to play as positively as we did the other night.” after a 5-0 thrashing of Tranmere there confidence is bound to be high , even though we are at home i think the first twenty minutes and who scores first will be crucial , if they score early they will be looking for another big scoreline. we need to do somthing different up front and the midfield's dostribution will have to be a lot better. giles will need to defend more and have a better game than the last one . we will do well to get a draw could be a long cold wet day.

Low scoring, 1-0 either way. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we put on a decent performance today.
