About as fair as that referee from Wiltshire refereeing the Swindon game. I'm not sure GT was over impressed.

He's young and inexperienced, maybe he will over compensate against anyone saying he is giving them an advantage to our advantage.

Why did we agree to playing Friday night.. ? I read the reason was to allow Lincoln more time to prepare for their Tuesday night trip to Portsmouth. Since when was this a thing?! Are we not at a disadvantage as I imagine we’ll take less supporters than we would on a Saturday..

The last time I went to Lincoln we had a man sent off in the first minute.
Despite being down to 10 men for 89 minutes we came away with a 0-0
The ref ruined the game with such an early decision

For anyone driving the traffic will be horrendous on a Friday afternoon, it's not the easiest of journeys at the best of times so it's likely to be 3 and half hours or so on Friday pm!

Did our Club have any say in the scheduling of this, or can Lincoln do more or less whatever they like? The reason they've given for moving it seems a fairly weak one. All clubs had a game originally scheduled for next Tuesday evening. Tranmere have also switched to Friday, whilst Coventry, Ipswich and Peterborough are now playing on Wednesday. But 8 games remain to be played on Tuesday evening. These include games involving Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Tranmere and Southend, who will all have played on Friday. However, the Tuesday evening games at Bristol Rovers, Burton and Rochdale all involve teams who were quite happy to play on the previous Saturday. Accrington are playing on Sunday and Wednesday, as are their opponents Ipswich Town.

I’ve investigated (just like you and Bury!!!). There was a short, sharp item on Shrewsweb just announcing it had been changed but there is an interview with BC on 4th July when it was addressed. Basicalky a lot of waffle about the fans not liking it but Lincoln did ask us and we agreed for footballing reasons as we have a midweek game the following week as well. And Lincoln isn’t that far compared to Southend or Gillingham!! Lincoln like to play on a Friday night apparently as well. ?gamesmanship - not for me to say. Some fans will like it and some won’t he said. Personally I just think blow it. I’m a loyal supporter home and away so I’ll just save the money. He did say another club had asked for a move - I didn’t catch who as he mumbled - but we turned it down.

Which fans will prefer playing Lincoln on a Friday evening? Must be very much in the minority!

Ricketts thinks playing this game earlier helps us as it gives us extra recovery time before the Gillingham game.

Yes recovery time was mentioned several times by BC.
Dunno how we’d have got on had Lincoln not wanted Friday. They’d better best Gillingham or that will be another myth out of the window.
Thank goodness we would have had Bury over New Year or they’d never have survived.

I’d be more concerned about the recovery time of Omar and Aaron, who played on Tuesday (?)and had a long haul flight to get over

In the 68 / 69 season (i think it was that one) we played most of our home games on a Friday night
Anyone remember that season (or correct me if i am slightly out) and why did we play mostly at home on a Friday night???

I would think that any advantage to us is marginal, but we all know it’s a game of fine margins!

I would argue that this could actually work in our favour he knows that eyes will be on him from up above and may think he needs to make the point that he is impartial and might actually give us a few 50/50s one can hope at least

I'm lucky that I don't work Fridays, so I'm going to the match and looking forward to it. I prefer a Friday to A Tuesday but Saturday is best. This season feels as if it's not got going yet. It seems ages since the last match. Hope they have been training hard and are all fit and turn up COYB.

Although to be fair he’s only jumping on the Lincoln bandwagon with this.
Mind you they’ve had a change of manager since this was arranged.

If you thought 7.45 on a Friday was bad the PL have just released the fixtures for Dec and Jan and they have slumped to new lows where fans are concerned. BBC article on the Xmas/New Year fixtures here : www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50082517The highlight is Leicester v Liverpool on Boxing Day - Ko 8pm (live on Amazon!). Saturday 28th Dec Burnley v Man Utd - Ko 7.45! New Years Day Arsenal v Man Utd - 8 pm Midweek fixtures in first week of Dec includes 2 on the Thursday. One of the fixtures each night has an 8.15 ko

Lincoln also switched their home game v Rotherham (in Feb) to a Friday night which preceeds a home game on the Tuesday. Although Rotherham is much nearer so would be less inconvenient to the majority of their fans.
Back in the late 80's Southend regularly played on Friday nights.
