Red card Argentina.
2nd bad tackle on Farrell.

Youngs kicking good ball away more than once.

Handling errors + 2 missed goal kicks by Farrell = 5-3.

Surely got to kick one from here... Errrm. No.
Looking good here. You would hope that this game is beyond Argentina now. Could be a good few more points coming from England. Kick back and enjoy...

4 missed goal kicks. Has Farrell ever missed 4 in a row at international level?

Probably not.

England had a clear game plan keep play alive and in Argentinas half. dangerous tackle a red all day long, relentless pressuer from England , Farrell having a poor day at the office ,if all the penalties had been converted England would have been out of sight. can England keep up this level of physicality for the second half. but well done England.

Strange half really. Three good tries but poor kicking from Farrell and Youngs at scrum half.

Not a classic but into the quarters and after the disaster four years ago happy enough.

Always going to be a tough game against Argentina and so it proved to be. But the result was never in doubt after the red card. Well done England. Need to see it out against France, mind. Wales should be looking to win pool D and so I would rather be looking to play Australia in the quarters. Not just to avoid family rivalry but because I think Wales are the better of the two...
I guess a win for Japan should see Scotland out already or? So come on Japan...

I think a bonus point win for Japan today would mean Scotland would have to beat Japan and get the try bonus point while not letting Japan get anything. Probably wrong though π€π

I think a bonus point win for Japan today would mean Scotland would have to beat Japan and get the try bonus point while not letting Japan get anything. Probably wrong though π€π Assuming Scotland get a bonus point win against Russia they'll be 4 points behind Japan going into the last game between the two. So then it gets a bit complicated: 1. Japan win or a draw, obviously Japan go through. 2. Scotland win without bonus point for either team, Scotland through on head to head. 3. Scotland win, both teams get bonus point, Scotland through on head to head. 4. Scotland bonus point win, Japan no bonus point, Scotland through. 5. Scotland win without bonus point, Japan get bonus point, Japan through.

Thought Japan again looked the part yesterday, that Ireland win doesn't appear to have been a flash in the pan. If they can avoid NZ in the quarters then I think they will fancy their chances of making it to the semis. If they can turn in another performance on par with the last two then I think they will have too much for Scotland.

An interested observer in all this. Always want "our" teams to win, plus the British Lions, have to side with England, especially the smug smile you can wear if they beat Wales.
Have a question though based on the World Cup matches; where's Germany? What's the state of German rugby?

Agree with you about the crowds, for me a real highlight from this competition. Brings a smile to the face for sure...π

Have a question though based on the World Cup matches; where's Germany? What's the state of German rugby? Its getting there I think. Its certainly gaining momentum. I don't know the ins and outs but at one point there seemed to be a qualification game going on every weekend at one point. I think they ultimately lost out to the Canadians. And I think they were in a decent position at one point to qualify but an individual error cost them pretty bad. Something really stupid from what I recall from speaking with friends here, like backchat to the ref or sommat daft. Don't think it will be long before they make an appearance at the finals anyhow.
Don't know a great deal about club level. I know at local level its pretty big in Heidelberg with the university there. I know we have a team here in Stuttgart and another not so far out in Heilbronn. Not sure about Heidleberg but the other two are a good mix of German lads and expats.
Its available to watch here in Germany online and I know one or two who are looking in and enjoying it...π

Another red card π
Canadian Josh Larsen just had his marching orders with 45 minutes of their game to go. 40 nil down...could be a long old second half π

Big typhoon headed straight for us here in Kanagawa (Yokohama, where England play on Saturday and Japan play Scotland on Sunday) and Tokyo. Sunday looking to be the peak so there must be a chance the Japan game will be called off. If so, the points are shared and Scotland will go out. Also sadly puts paid to my plans to watch the England game in the Fan Zone in Yokohama

Another red card π Canadian Josh Lauren just had his marching orders with 45 minutes of their game to go. 40 nil down...could be a long old second half π make that 47 nil at half time. SA gifted another try just on half time.

Not what we like to see a bit of a hiding but some of the rugby from SA has been very easy on the eye. Can't expect the Canadians to match them at the best of times nevermind in this mood. Early start tomorrow.

Argentina enjoying themselves here. Think they'll rack up the half century and then some here the way they are going. USA still giving it some though...and a second try. Good game this... Come on Russia!! <- OK, so that was wishful thinking. All set up for a thriller in the last group game. Its gonna be a humdinger...

LIn a pub for breakfast and itβs on tv with no sound WTF is going on . 3 tries disallowed by TMO already, 2 sin binned and how long did it just take to decide if someone was out of play or not. Worse than VAR !
