Fans on their forum seem to think because he played a lot of games for us last season and he’s not ‘surplus to requirements there’ therefore the reason he’s going to Grimsby must be because he’s unsettled and wants a move back to Lincolnshire....
Does someone want to tell them or shall I? 😆

He has always given of his best when putting on a Town shirt. He may not be the quickest but that is not something he can do anything about. He has certainly never hidden in games and if he goes, I for one will wish him well.

Always put his body on the line and gave 100% and you can’t ask for much more than that.
A good CB but he is 5th in line now and it is right that he moves on.

Can't believe I've just read some comments on the Grimsby forum of some of their fans saying that they'd be "happy for him to sign" and that "it would be a good signing".
Yes he tries his best but he's just not good enough. Clearly they know **** all!!

looking at the cbs today he would never break into the back line unless injury or suspension required it.

I personally like waterfall. Honest professional that gives his all. Immense in the air both attacking and defending. His positional play is also good. The only thing letting him down is his pace, which you cant blame him for. If he does move on then i wish his well and thank him for his hard work.

Would be a good signing for Grimsby, certainly a very decent league 2 centre back, and let's not forget that he, and his previous team, beat us at Wembley not so long ago. Never shirked, always tried, scored some important goals. His lack of pace highlighted more at league 1 level, but good luck to him.

Came up with some vital goals and never shirked a challenge. I too will wish him well if he leaves... And await the next scapegoat

There's no faulting Waterfall's effort. Also he is a superb header of the ball, and makes the long ball up to the striker virtually redundant. But in practically every other aspect he is inadequate at this level.

Luke's goals at Wimbledon probably kept us in the league. But you would be hard pressed to beat our trio of Centre Backs today.
Absolute superb display. They looked like they had something to prove, and they did. I love to see players who want to play for Shrewsbury, and these guys look like they want to. Absolute passion.

Yessssssssss get the **** party 🎉 ****ing started!!! Ding dong the shower of s**t it almost gone!!!!!! Totally disagree with your sentiments. He’s leaving because he’s fifth in the pecking order not because ‘he’s a shower of s**t’. I could probably come up with 20 odd players that were clearly worse for us in the past six years especially in centre back - Jones, Mkandawire, Winfield, Gerrard, McGivern, El-Abd, Lancashire etc. were all paid off, plus others. He won the most headers in League One last season and scored some vital goals for us last season, Barnsley at home, Wimbledon away, Sunderland away, Wolves at home, Southend away. He has been the ultimate professional and always came across as sensible and level headed in interviews, I wish him well at Grimsby if he indeed goes.

Some really classy posts on this thread.
Mainly from bitter men on a Saturday eve berating a 29 year old professional footballer who will never see those posts and would laugh if he did.
Thanks for your service Luke.

Some absolutely horrid and ignorant posts not just on this thread but throughout last season about Waterfall. Yes he probably isn’t up to the standard required but I’d wager he has more passion for Salop than half of these judgemental, sanctimonious prats on this forum who’ve never played a proper game of football in their life.
Good luck Luke. If ever I was looking for a defender on my team you’d be just the kind of character I’d call upon.

One post on that forum sums Luke up (below), he always gave 100% and for the majority of the game he could look ok but you were always nervous, particularly against pacey, skillful players. Speaking of pace, I'll always remember that Oxford game, the ball over the top and him running through treacle. Anyway, good luck to the bloke, an honest pro.
"Always looked like he had an error in him when playing against us for Lincoln and is basically a bit of an old fashioned clogger. We’re lacking pace in the middle, I don’t think he gives us anything we don’t have already"

He’s just one of your typical ten a penny honest pro lower league defenders. Can’t fault his commitment or passion, and did have some really great games at the back as well as some vital goals, but ultimately we have better now and league two is probably his level. Good luck to him.
The social media army will be secretly gutted.

And await the next scapegoat Arnold, Amadi-Holloway, Angol have all left, it looks like Waterfall soon to follow. Like you I wonder who those among our 'fans' who always have to have a scapegoat will target next?

i dont know why people are been mean. i cant say i was a fan butlast season Watferall was rather unfairly used as the scapegoat for a generally poor team.
I think Ricketts has brought in better defenders and town will see the benfits of this and i think Waterfall would struggle to get any regular football. i am aware of his limitations and he made errors that lead to goals but i dont recall him ever not trying ,he put his body on the line made some vital blocks and headers. i wish him well and i think league two will be more of a league for his abilities.

We're playing three centre backs this seasons, if Waterfall goes that leaves Beckles as cover for those three positions.
There are one or two who could fill in, like Vincelot or Golbourne, but they're not proper centre backs. Aaron Pierre will likely be missing for a while in October/November on international duty with Grenada. One injury or suspension around the same time will leave us looking short and those people now crowing about losing Waterfall will probably be complaining that we have a lack of cover.
