with only three forwards i wonder if Ricketts will rethink wanting to send him out on loan? He gives us good options, particularly if we want to change formation mid game. I think there is more benefit in keeping him at the club and using him as an impact substitute.

Well even against league 2 opposition Waterfall managed to not sort his feet out. Bench at best

consider two thirds of the teams were academy players and the article from Cheltenham suggested they may field a full strength league team ,then i think a draw was a good result just a pity we conceeded two soft goals .

Must keep Eisa. He's clearly got something and could be the suprise Impact player this season. Let's face it, the only reason for him to be sent our on loan would be something better coming in. That isn't going to happen with a week or so to go regarding that end of the pitch

Cheltenham take the lead from the penalty spot after a foul by Waterfall on Campbell. Waterfall giving away a penalty and spelling mistake from the Town social media team - football is back! Same old, same old...Waterfall always has a mistake in him and STFC Media Team unable to proof read anything before posting on social media and just trust spollchocker.

Personally, I'd consider converting Eisa to a forward.
The lad's got too much talent to not involve him in or around the match day squad.
Eisa's good...

Question for the usual whingers and profits of doom. How many first team games this coming season do you expect to see that same starting eleven? My guess is NONE.

So what to do with Whalley and Eisa? The two players who are constantly talked about not fitting into Ricketts system. Yet the two bright sparks so far this preseason.

None but Iâm hoping Waterfall remains as far from the first 11 as possible. Itâs no coincidence weâve conceded in preseason in every game once heâs on the pitch and again making stupid mistakes.

A full game for Golbourne and 45 minutes for Edwards are positives from the game tonight.

So both wingers score. Now what?
Whalley looks like our biggest threat the two times I have seen him pre-season, and Eisa has it in him.
Mmmm.

We know formation Sam is using so either they fit into it or they aren't going to be playing much. As talented as Whalley and Eisa are they don't dictate how the rest of the team should play.

Yes, I know, but it would appear that this was the 2nd string tonight. So, our wingers have achieved something that our strikers have failed to do so far in preseason. Hence, mmmm. What does SR do if we fail to find the net regularly, say 10 games in?

The manager needs to get some tactical flexibility. If five at the back isn't working we need to have a plan b and change formation.

without knowking what sort of side they had a draw might be a good result considering it was pretty much a 2nd xl
I think we need to calm down a bit re waterfall, after the villa game I'd predict the plan is we keep beckles and waterfall will leave either on loan or sale, someone like Lincoln I'm sure would welcome him hoping we get a loan striker in this week, I also think eisa might step up above fejiri in the pecking order, how did Edwards do ?, it's still possible for him to become one of the great legends for town but I fear it might be another frustrating season for him with injuries , I think the most important question tonight for me is , is Gregory ready to step up if the call comes ?
can't wait for Saturday , hope we play our starting xi v Pompey and produce a convincing win

I think we need to calm down a bit re waterfall, after the villa game I'd predict the plan is we keep beckles and waterfall will leave either on loan or sale That would leave us with four centre backs in the squad, unless another is signed as a replacement for any that leave. Given we will be playing with three centre backs this season I think we need five in the squad to provide sufficient cover.

Some people seem to be reading an awful lot into a few friendlies. Coming 2 days after Villa, tonight was always going to be about getting the rest of the squad on the pitch, hopefully playing the same system. At least weâve scored at last!
I canât believe weâve already got a âwe need a plan bâ post when we havenât even reached the end of the friendlies! Perhaps itâs the heat or perhaps salop27 is over-excited at Johnsonâs accession.
