No great loss IMO. Became quite disruptive to the way Ricketts likes to play toward the end of last season. Took the pace out of the game massively with his constant and very frustrating attempts to con the ref. Even remember Norburn bollocking him in one game for falling on his arse instead of playing the ball forward. From all reports Brad Walker could be a very good replacement to step into that DM role. Sure he was on a decent wack as well which will help strengthen other areas of the pitch.

If anyone believes that has any kind of dental problems that has kept him out of almost THREE weeks of pre season trianing then you mad.
Would be a loss, we currently dont have anyone of his standard to play his role, and finding someone to do it might be an expensive business.
Wont be many Askey players here by the time we kick off!

Would miss him for sure but SR and team must know what they need for their grand plan and have satisfactory alternatives in mind.

Close to 500 league appearances. A permanent fixture in our team last season. It's going to be a tough act to follow for Walker or whoever steps into his boots.

Surely this has to be resolved before Sunday, otherwise he will have to go to Portugal or be left at home with neither of those options being good if he wants away.

Sorry meant two weeks... Still hes not going to Portugal for sure. To be fair we dont know the story. Does he want out or do club want him out. Both are options. Either way. There is nothing wrong with his teeth.

I like Grant, but we may only get one more good year out of him. So if we can get money for him now rather than him likely leaving on a free next summer that looks like decent business.
Walker and Vincelot are both holding midfielders so there are like for like replacements available. If Grant and Norburn do move on we will need to strengthen in this department though as Edwards chances of playing regularly at the start of the season look far from assured.

Could still be a lot of work to do.... and if we lose guys late in the window, say someone comes in with silly money for Fey and Norburn we would be weak in MF and ST as it stands... Interesting few weeks to get though yet!

I hope there is something in the story regarding dental surgery as the club will look bad if it proves not to be the case down the line. To be fair, if for example he's had a wisdom tooth removed, that can take a couple of weeks to recover from.

We don’t want to lose Grant . In my opinion he is a very good player . I would say he is an improvement on Ogogo to be honest , a better footballer all round . If he goes we will have to spend a fair wad to replace him .

The fact he signed elsewhere not realising we held the extra year option, not him, tells you all you need to know. We triggered it, and we'll snatch a fee, maybe upwards of £100k, decent bit of business for an aging player who doesn't want to be here and caused issues last year.
From speaking to a couple of Wrexham fans, they rate Walker highly, say he's a classy player and he'll likely make the step up.

Plenty on here I seem to remember were saying he was better than Ogogo last season. Worth it if he’s one of our highest paid players by the sounds of it. Everyone is replaceable though of course, I’m sure Sam will do what’s best for the club.

whilst evryone is replacable , he got us a few points last season in the defensive midfield role.so who wil be the holding midfielder for town ? Vincelot is a holding midfielder but the few time i have seen him he seems tentative going in for takles and does not appear to have the physicality that grant brings to the role. walker is an attacking midfielder so a new signing ?

Mark Elliot conforming then the club have transfer listed, which must mean the reason hes not at training is hes been asked to stay away.... A sad end to his time here then, but not that unusual I guess.
The teeth thing is comedy gold though!

Hopefully this is sorted out soon and doesn't drag on for most of pre-season.

I'd rather we keep him to be honest, don't think you get too far in getting shot of your best players. Although his performances dropped towards the end of the season he still did a good job and was a standout in a season of very few highlights. But with that said, what yer gonna do if he wants off... which I gather is the case otherwise we wouldn't be discussing this and he'd be set to stay. I wonder if this is one of the reasons his form dipped late on last season. Maybe he just wasn't too happy...

Been reliably informed that the club (SR) don’t want Grant back due to his ‘influence’ behind the scenes, and so they’ve not got him back for pre-season - hence the ‘teeth’ excuse.

He was very good for us for most of the season but noticeably not much good in the later stages and, at times, a bit of a liability.
None of that matters much if he's thought to be a bad influence and has the wrong attitude. This season is a new start and for me, if he wanted to leave, then he has to leave. It would be completely wrong to hang onto a senior player who didn't want to be there.
Thanks, good luck and goodbye.

A big loss, on his day has a huge influence on a game. A definite step up from Ogogo.
But if he's not happy, then so be it & let him go.
No one is irreplaceable.

He is such a good player.
We all raved about Ogogo but Grant was a step up to him.
He will be very hard to replace.

At least Vincelot, currently the other option, is experienced in League 1. We know he's a talented player, but I'm not convinced Vincelot will have the legs to last the full season. At 23, if Walker can prove his worth pre season, I'd prefer him to start. With Vincelot filling in when needed.
