I stand corrected by my previous comments on him. Deffo worth going for. Be very pleased if we started the season with o leary and the l2 keeper of the year in our squad. An infinite upgrade on last season.

Yep he's the one, available on a free...as are all Bury players Joe Murphy used to be a very good keeper but he's getting on a bit now. That said he was good enough to win promotion with Bury last season playing a lot of games so he must still be up to the job, but for how much longer and at a higher level would be the question.

37 is pretty old - even for a keeper. Would he really want to be the back-up as his career is near its end - surely he'd want to be playing ? I would be disappointed if he were the number 1 keeper.

Yep he's the one, available on a free...as are all Bury players Danny Mayor signed for Plymouth today, do Bury still have enough players for a five-a-side team?

Bristol Rovers, who were also interested in him, have signed their second new goalkeeper of the summer today. Maybe significant, maybe not?

From Bristol City journo re O’Leary
Hi Martin. Had forgotten about this. Great shout. Think it all fits - plus Sam Freddie Hinds on loan while he was at Wrexham previously so the relationship with the Robins is already there. One to keep an eye on for sure! Cheers, G

A 37 year old goalkeeper isn't ideal, but I think age is less of an issue with goalkeepers. He obviously did very well at Bury last season to be named in the League 2 team of the year.

Freddie Woodman is another youngster rumoured to be a main target

If Murphy signs, It would still be an improvement on any of the keepers from last year.

Goalkeepers of similar age have played in the Premier League in the last couple of years. Age is far less of a problem for goalkeepers if they're good enough and playing 52 games for Bury and making the League 2 team of the year would suggest he's still good enough.
As an aside Aaron Pierre didn't make the League 2 team of the year last season but people having been full of praise for that signing. I'm also happy with the signing of Pierre, he looks to have plenty of potential, just as I would be with the signing of Murphy.

What's happened with Charles-Cook? Surely he should have signed or departed by now.

Won't have cost too much in wages I'd guess. Anyone who was with Bury last season will surely be happy to get fixed up with a club where they are more or less guaranteed to actually get paid at the end of the month

What's happened with Charles-Cook? Surely he should have signed or departed by now. Guess he is still weighing up his options. Difference is that Town wont be paying him to do so now the end of June has passed. Must have other options but we should all know fairly soon.

Why are we waiting, oh why high are we waiting,
Why are we waiting, oh why high high,
Why are we waiting, why are we waiting,
When do we want a keeper? Now, now, now!!!!

A third keeper would be needed to step in when O'Leary is away with Ireland.
