My dad and I are loyal and long time supporters. Alnwick? I'm originally from the Scottish Borders and married a Shropshire Lass - been settled down here for years now.
Alnwick is one of the best kept secrets in England and well worth a visit if anyone is up that way on holiday.

What if the holiday is specifically a trip to Alnwick?

Smoked kippers from Craster are superb and the walk up towards Dunstanburgh castle is fabulous.

Smoked kippers from Craster are superb and the walk up towards Dunstanburgh castle is fabulous. Had a some kippers washed down with a bottle of Newcy Brown Ale, while leafing through my battered old copy of Breathe One Em Salop on my last holiday up there. Truly marvellous.

More like Ticket Inspector Swan, right lads??!! The attention to detail of someone with the training and skills to catch those who might try to use an off peak ticket at the wrong time.

Got caught out by The Inspector on this exact issue. Was trying to use an off-peak single from Bovington to Swanage at 9:28, and got diddled for the price of a new ticket. Couldn't even claim it on expenses!
