The fixtures for next season are due to be announced at 9am on 20th June. The first league games will be on Saturday 3rd August. With the flower show being on Saturday 10th August is it reasonable to presume we will get a home fixture on the opening day.

Providing the club have advised the EFL about the Flower Show. I remember one year they didn’t and we had to play our home game on the Sunday. I’ve a feeling it was v Wycombe.

Although I'd expect us to be away on Saturday of flower show, isn't this historically because the Gay Meadow was a coach park for show.
Now that we are out of town not much of a issue. You could have both on at same time and for visiting supporters a chance to stay in our wonderful town and take in Saturday night's fireworks!

Isn’t it more that the police can’t look after us and the rabble at the Flower Show?!!!

Isn’t it more that the police can’t look after us and the rabble at the Flower Show?!!! That's right, although it dates back to when the Police used to do what stewards do nowadays. Unless there is a big away following you don't see much of a Police presence at the actual ground nowadays. Im sure the local Police could manage the flower show and a home game against Fleetwood on the same day.

Plenty of Police used from adjoining forces when we need them, they came from all over the West Midlands for the Walsall game... Traffic on Flower Show days is normally quieter than a normal day so can’t see the problem UNLESS the club want a home fixture at the start of the season and use The Flower Show as an excuse which is accepted by the EFL cos historically they’ve allowed it.....
Anyway got tickets for the Ashes at Edgbaston that I may or may not use.... what a dilemma 😩

Now that Copthorne Barracks is closed don't they use the new ground for parking for coaches from afar?
Who then pick up their guests at a specific time from outside St Chads.

Ipswich at home on the first day please :-) A large police presence for that one - there may even be fighting in the Boardroom.😆

I don't think that would work, there about a million bricks covering the site and before long there will be hundreds of houses. I would have thought that by the Flower Show the site will be in full flow and not ideal as a coach park.

Is there a possibility that the flower show coaches could use the Meadow car park and folks use the park and ride into town? Is the club missing a chance to make a few bob for charging for coach parking here?

Is the club missing a chance to make a few bob for charging for coach parking here? The Meadow car park would be excellent for Flower show parking. Not sure though whether the club could risk offering it in case they did get a home league fixture on that date. I think they request an away fixture on Flower show day on Police advice but maybe its not guaranteed.

I think it has as much to do with respect for the travelling fans
if we got a bumper fixture at home on flower show day it wouldn't bother us too much although the gate would be down and quite a few would be at the show, but could be a nightmare for those travelling, the park and rides would be packed, trains crowded, accommodation taken or overpriced also I think a lot of our stewards might be otherwise engaged
my guess is we kick off at home to Pompey

If we are at home on flower show Saturday there are a number of problems. One is that quite a few of our gatemen work on the gates at the Flower show
I expect we will be at home to Lincoln and will probably lose

Im sure the Ricketts out brigade will be hoping we lose so they get a very early chance to start moaning about him.
