Embarrassing from the club.
Do they have no idea how journalism works in the digital era?
A key part of Cox's job will be be making sure his stories are as widely-read as possible by using social media to drive readers to the Star's website.
He's probably measured on how many hits his stories get. His job/pay/career prospects could depend on it.
If no one went to the Star to read Salop stories MNA would stop covering them!
I wonder why the national and regional press bother to report on football when they could just retweet the - largely badly written - pieces carried on official sites?

Baffling response. I've got no personal problem with whits but the media side of town doesn't exactly cover itself in glory at times.
Especially odd with someone like Lewis who seems to generally have a very good relationship with the club and seems a nice guy who does things properly and well

All very silly & unnecessary. Not that he did anything wrong but Cox should perhaps have left his response with the first sentence only. Classic misinterpretations ensue.

I have noticed the odd comment in past from the club when Lewis has tweeted something that the club had originally tweeted and club have commented saying "why didn't you just retweet our tweet?".

Soooo... does the club's media dept not understand how news media make their money? Clue: It's not by generating traffic to someone else's site.
Weird.

Knowing Lewis, think it was a straw that broke the camels back.... hes been constantly bothered about the same point all season, but this time Salop choose to bring it into the public eye. Good that he stood his ground. Lewis is a good lad, and regardless of anything he has a good relationship with the Salopcast

I wish I expected better from the media side of the club. Seems in their myopic chasing of traffic for their own Twitter and other social media platforms, they completely disregard anyone else and their same goals. Also, it's a quid pro quo relationship between club and local media but maybe the club believe they have outgrown the Star's reach in the digital age and don't care much about the relationship? Whether this is explicit policy or implicit in their dealings who knows.
On the other hand, could just be the Twitter account person from the club being a childish loser.

I would imagine they are already p**sed off after he announced next seasons planned formation, this after sam told us to keep it to ourselves which we did

Not quite sure how you can have a 'secret formation' - won't it become obvious in pre-season anyway?

Another in a long line of silly digs at Cox from the Town. To be honest it’s probably the most ‘jokey’ of the lot but I’m not surprised he’s had enough. We’ve been pathetic towards journalists for a long time now. They don’t realise how lucky they are to have a yes man at present...

Lewis Cox is ok at best. I can’t trust him. Hopefully someone will respond to this message and ask me why I can’t trust him.

Soy boy Cox is just a yes man. Doesn't challenge the club in any way yet vilified Askey.

Harsh to call Cox a yes man.
It's a difficult balancing act he has between maintaining a relationship with the club and telling it as it is.
Decisions on how far to push certain lines of questioning and whether to report things that would annoy the club will also likely be taken above his head.

I see another member of the new meadow staff having a dig at supporters of the club and their dress sense on Twitter. Totally unprofessional.

I don’t do Twitter but it does seem unprofessional and downright rude.
Hope the spellings and grammar are up to their usual low standard!!

I am not a big fan of social media as it is normally poorly informed and inaccurate, but there seems to be a trend on here that some people pick up on every misplaced inverted comma etc that manifests itself from the club in whatever form. Nevertheless freedom of speech works both ways and in various forms, so what is wrong with the club or employees having the option to reply to Lewis Cox or others, is his word the gospel these days, or is it just another way for people to have a pop at the club to create a reaction, or story if you are a newspaper employee.

That’s a very good question. Some of the Shrewsbury fans on here might recall us reaching the final of the Auto Windscreens Trophy in the 2017/18 season. Lewis Cox attended this match, as is his right, but his Twitter output the evening before was disturbing to say the least. Being a popular chap with myriad social commitments, I don’t have the time to find the exact tweet but doubtless one of the many macintosh-wearing internet oddballs with fruit-based avatars can afford to trawl Lewis’ timeline for the greater good. In essence he went for dinner at an Angus Steakhouse or equivalent and made a comment to the effect it was a life affirming meal. Anyone with an ounce of worldly wisdom will be able to list the many ills of the aforementioned chain, with it effectively being a tourist trap serving atrociously cooked cuisine. If Lewis is so off beam and lacking in ‘smarts’ for such a basic facet of life, what else is he misrepresenting to us where law enforcement can’t call his bluff?
