sums up our current leaders ambitions. A 2 year deal for a player who spent 6 months unable to find a club last season is underwhelming in my view
Where does this leave young Haynes?

Goldbourne is a better player than Haynes at present - the fact he could not get a deal after a bad injury should not be held against him.

I think golbourne is a solid decent player for when we have to keep it tight when playing away. He is experienced and know what he is doing
At home though I would like to see a quicker more attacking player so we can take it to the opposition... Haynes for example!

Prefer a settled defence myself, but each to their own.

Especially in a 352 due to the energy demand of getting up and down the pitch I would like to see attacking at home and resolute away

Think he's a decent signing with experience of league 1 and championship. He hadn't had a pre-season or played for first half of last season and showed a steady improvement as he got more game time.

Happy with this. I didn't get to too many games this season so can't comment on his performances overall but he was probably our best player in the win away at southend, looked very solid and was obviously getting back to some sort of match fitness as he didn't stop all game and managed to get forward quite a bit too.

Reading interviews online when signed for Bristol City and Wolves, Goldbourne says he's an attacking full back and likes to get up and down the wing. Clearly he is a bit older now but with a proper pre-season and get fitter he could fulfill the role.
However, I would still expect with Haynes to challenge for that wing back spot or someone else will be signed. Goldbourne would be a valuable experienced head in the squad.
