Did they find a League One Footballer in there somewhere? They should do - he has a League One champions medal from his time at Wolves.

Has signed a new two-year deal, according to Lewis Cox on Twitter.

Little bit surprised we've gone for two years, but after a slow start I thought he was very good in the last couple of months and a big part of our improved form.

Surpisingly, we're Bolton signing and another centre half away from the defence being sorted out i think.

You don't give out a 2 year deal as a back up in one position i don't think. Little disappointed but that is mainly based on other reports. Does seem a bit defensive for a wing back though.

To be fair to Scott, I don't think he had a pre-season, so he was playing ketchup.

Feels like we are going back to 4 at the back if Golbourne is what we're looking for.
Decent full back, not sure he's a wing back.

I think someone on here suggested Peterborough were in for him.

He's short of pace. Abo Eisa will skin him.

Yes, Golborne picked his game up last couple of months, pretty steady left back

that's slightly confusing. state we're going to be playing 3-5-2 which relies on wing backs, but offer new deals to 2 players who don't seem to be suited to play as wing backs

I see he has been quoted thus, ( very loosely) “ I like a smaller squad, more tight knit. It means that if you are not laying one week, you could be playing the next , what with injuries, suspensions or loss of form. “
Don’t like the sound of that much. The word “ rotation” comes to mind in my view. Hope not.

Two year deal for an 31 year old player prone to injury in the last three years seems surprising; thought he did ok last season and improved as his fitness came back but it always assumed it was a short term fix until the end of the season. You can't possibly have a player with his lack of pace as a wing back. To be honest I think its risking him as a left back too unless Ricketts sees him filling a centre back role as Sadler did when his pace went as a full back.
A squad of John Lewis, Golbourne and Edwards should at least get our moneys worth out of the physio next season

A smaller squad containing three players with physio season tickets, Sears long term injured, no decent keeper, interest shown in a National League North striker..........not filling me with a lot of confidence so far.

If he is to stick with the 3-5-2 that he ‘stumbled across’, sorry - ‘fell into and quite likes’ - last season, then I fail to see what Golbourne offers? He hasn’t the pace to beat a man, and although he improved as the season went on, didn’t seem to have the energy to get up and down as rapidly as needed - hence why Beckles was constantly being dragged out of the centre and leaving Waterfall so exposed?!
If we play 3-5-2 and if he’s still here, in my opinion, Haynes should be first choice LWB

At the very least, it seems we’re getting some of our business done early, but also a bit apprehensive about the WB scenario with an injury prone 31 year old.
