Sunderland v Portsmouth Doncaster v Charlton Who would you prefer to get promoted? Or put another way who would you like out of the way for next season? Whichever way you look at it there will be at least two of the big three clubs still in our division next season. I'd like to see Portsmouth go up as I have time for Kenny Jackett and the way they've gone about it. Charlton, or rather Bowyer, are already giving it the big 'un about being the team to beat etc, so it would be nice to see them fail again. Sunderland, it would be good to have them out of the way next season as I doubt they'll mess it up again given their financial clout, but there again a Leeds/Sheffield United type spell in League 1 wouldn't do them any harm either. Doncaster, not too bothered either way other than if they went up it would leave all the big three in our division next season.

Would personally like to see Sunderland go up, they will be even stronger next season with their continued parachute payments. Portsmouth to stay down because its a great day out and not far from where i'm based. Would like to see Charlton suffer another season after last season's bad blood and Donny...meh they dont deserve to go up based on their points tally and the fact they are a pretty poor footballing side.

Charlton to stay down. Fans a disgrace at Meadow play offs last season as was Boywer.

Sunderland won't necessarily be stronger next season. Their last parachute payment will be a mere £14m(!), compared to £35m for each of the last two seasons. That's the measure of how big their failure has been and, because their fans were far too big time for my liking, I hope they stay down.
Charlton, no thanks, wouldn't like to see Bowyer successful.
I'd want Portsmouth to beat either of those two, although it'd be a shame to lose their away support and we seem to do quite well at Fratton Park.
Doncaster? Not bothered either way really but rather they went up than the other two.

Would expect if Sunderland are still in our division next season that they would very likely take one of the promotion places having failed this year. On that basis I’d be happy to see them out of the way even though we would miss out on a large home gate.
I’ve no real team that I would like to see go up, though Charlton staying down again would be quite nice so come on Donny in the semis.

He made himself big but it looked like it just hit him as much as anything. Sunderland much better this half and deservedly one up but Sunderland now down to ten after an awful red card decision by Andy Woolmer.

How Woolmer gets close to taking charge of such matches is a mystery? - Did the same with a red card to Hereford back in the Conference season, and always seems to cock up whenever he is in charge of a big match

An interesting article on Sunderland's finances. "Financially, in terms of on-going costs, staying in League One is straightforward. In fact, going up represents more of a challenge." A link to the “interesting article” might help us see the context to these claims.

Poor game so far, as these games often seem to be. Curious comment this. Most of the play off games so far have been good, with aggressive play and venom in them.

True, but it’s a 60% reduction from the handout they’ve had for the last two seasons and they weren’t outstanding with that, which is why I questioned whether they’ll be stronger next season. Even if they weren’t a subsidised club, they’d have much higher turnover than us. They always seem to squander it.

Can see Doncaster maybe sneaking through the Play-offs as a bit of a dark horse. Sunderland and Portsmouth yesterday wasn't the greatest of games and both sides seem to have injury problems. Charlton often seem to slip up in play-offs when they play "small teams" they think they should be beating, although they did finish the league season strongly

there have been a few red cards so far in the various play offs surprising when you think its probably the worst possible game to get a red card in
they will miss the 2nd leg maybe the final at Wembley and the opening game for next season
that's a costly red card for some

Doncaster have been ****ing awful so far. No urgency or intensity.
I honestly think our team of this season would've given a better showing than this.

There were 26,600 at the Stadium of Light for the first leg with Portsmouth.
That’s 20,000 less than their season highest.
14,500 less than the league meeting between the two a few weeks before.
6,000 less than their average attendance for the season.
Weird.

I think from a purely selfish point of view I'd like to see both Sunderland and Charlton stay down, two of the best stadiums at this level...

Presume lots of season ticket holders not coming? Fans quite apathetic following last few seasons, and i've seen money mentioned, saving for possibility of the final. Can't imagine many will make the journey down to Portsmouth.

And a below season average gate at Fratton Park last night too. Despite 2,000 Sunderland fans making the trip the gate was still lower than any of Pompey's last 4 home games, which included Rochdale and Accrington. I get the season ticket thing, but the implication is that in Sunderland's case for example there were potentially 4-5,000 season ticket holders or at least regulars, who chose not to go to the play-off semi final. I just find that odd.
