I have just been informed by a close friend of mine that a poster on this board for quite a few years has sadly passed away.
"shrewforever" wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but had a razor sharp wit & sense of humour.
Spent quite a bit of time in his company , on and off the cricket pitch and wouldn't have missed it.
Just like to say thank you to him for some good laughs.
Edwin in the 3 Tuns in Bishops Castle with his Father (2nd from left), Edwin (2nd from right)
RIP Raincloud

Oh no - I had spoken to Eddie last on the phone after the Bristol rovers away game and he said he was struggling.
He sounded bloody miserable, which to be fair was an uptick for him compared to his usual stance of being ****in’ miserable.
He will be sorely missed. Whether for his stories of trying to make it as a poker pro in Vegas, his stints at a Buddhist monastery up north or his ranting and raving away at Dover.
RIP Eddie.

RIP - Eddie was a lovely bloke, first met him on a London shrews trip to Ebbsfleet in the conference season and chatted regularly to him at games thereafter. Lots of fond memories of him and as said above he will be sadly missed

Sad sad news. Thinking back to when I used to see him regularly at games I sometimes tried to "walk the other way" as he could be a little " depressing" but to be honest when you did chat to him his comments were invariably well founded and perceptive.
RIP Eddie.

Gutted - was chatting to Eddie pretty much after every match this season as we compared rants and moans, can’t believe our conversations will no longer be a Saturday evening feature
Rest in peace my friend, you will be sadly missed

Sad news, Eddie was a regular contributor and fully paid up social member in the early days of B+A, yes remember his stories of poker exploits and was a real character.

Genuinely upset at this news.
I knew Ed only through this site, and when we first met we fell out big time over our different opinions of the conference season. But when we got over that spat we became good friends and confidants, he would often ring me to moan like a b***h at something STFC related. Fair play, the bloke could argue with himself in the shower but he was always loyal to what he believed in and passionate about his support and love for the club.
And, he cared about people, was a life long socialist who massively distrusted the Conservative party and who - god rest his sole, carried a burning hatred of Thatcher. That will do for me 😉 The arguments we had with B&A’s Right Wing 👊
Sometimes, at various times in ones life people appear and then go,and yet you somehow feel that you have known them forever. I wish I’d known him longer.
Ave atque vale Comrade.

I didn't know him but sad news never the less when one of our own passes away, from the stories on here he sounded a real character.
I've been going away for over 30 years so can't believe I don't recognise him.

Didn't know him, but no doubt seen him as a face in the crowd over the years and also no doubt I would have conversed with him here on this forum.
He sounded a great character, poker pro in Las Vegas! Superb!
RIP and condolences to all those he's left behind.

Very sad. First meet Ed at Carlisle away as you do.
Travelled with him many a time when he lived in Cambridge. I know he had been struggling with Parkinson's for a number of years.
If anyone hears funeral details when they are known it would be appreciated if someone could let me know as would like to go if possible?
My favourite Eddie line was the news of Saddam Hussein being found was released as we travelled to Dover in the Conference season. My daughter who was 9 asked who he was.
Eddie's reply was "he is a very bad man. He is Chairman of the Telford United Supporters Club" 😂😂😂

So sorry to hear this, Eddie was great company and great fun - the stand out moments were when we managed to agree on anything football related! - such a cruel illness. RIP

Very sad to hear this news yesterday. Eddie was Eddie, one of a kind, always honest, very often brutally honest, It’s amazing how he knew so many of us. When I used to see his number come up in my phone I always knew it wasn’t going to be a quick call but it was always funny, honest, enlightening and came with some personal feedback too.
Let’s make sure we see him off in style
RIP Eddie

Sad to hear this, although I was aware that he had been having a tough time. I had twice as many personal messages from Eddie than any otter B&A poster, usually starting with a moan, but after replies going backwards and forwards we usually had put the world of STFC to rights. Rest in peace Eddie mate.

Eddie was a thoroughly good bloke in a miserable uncle kind of a way.
And considering he held such strong views he was remarkably respectful of people who thought differently.
I am not sure I can think of any spectrum that I had anything in common with him in, but I knew he would die in the trenches next to me to defend my right to believe differently.
And for that I will always respect him.
