Story circulating on Widnes Vikings message board that Bury player & staff salaries for March have gone unpaid - and Widnes might therefore have dodged a bullet in not being bought out of administration by Mr Dale a month or so ago.

And the wheels coming off their promotion bid with second home defeat in few days.

It's a shame the weak and ineffective football authorities in this country don't follow what happened in Spain in December when Segunda team Reus Deportiu failed to pay 8 players one month. They were thrown out of the league, fined €250,000 and banned from professional football for 3 years. If that were to happen in this country (I won't hold my breath) it may get some clubs to get in the real world.

If they ever got in that situation you would like to think so. At least a precedent is set. What example is set in this country?

Blimey...they must be in a right old mess. Sure its very much an attitude that 'something will turn up, something always seems to turn up'. To be fair it normally does to...

I think its safe to say that here in Germany, no matter who you are, if you're in a state then you'll be dropped down the leagues. Happened to many a club here...

Story circulating on Widnes Vikings message board that Bury player & staff salaries for March have gone unpaid - and Widnes might therefore have dodged a bullet in not being bought out of administration by Mr Dale a month or so ago. Attention northwestman! I've already referred to Bury's present situation on the bucketshakers thread and have done some of my customary research:- "Winding up petition against Bury to be heard in the High Court on 10th April 2019. Nothing changes." www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3246387"Is that Chris Brass the former player who has taken them to court? Yes, he was a player for them in 2006/07. However, his action relates to his time as their Manager in 2016/17." Here's some comments from the Bury Fans Forum:- "Nice to see Brass still cares about his former club. Appreciate he may be owed money for some sort of unfair dismissal claim, but it's not as though he really earned it in the disastrous spell in charge." "Let's be honest here, it's 18 months since he should have been paid. he probably tried every avenue under Day to get what is rightfully owed to him. He has a family and commitments like all of us probably do. It will be his solicitor who is steering it in this direction. I bet if he didn't have to do it this way he wouldn't have - he's been left with no alternative in my opinion. He was a good servant to the club - he wasn't a slave."

And now add Macclesfield to the list... Think Macclesfield were failing to pay wages last season, and Askey still got them over the line and back into the FL despite it. I think it was this that probably caused him to realise that they would never survive at the higher level without having some money to strengthen the team which was never likely to be available. So when Shrewsbury came calling he jumped at joining us. Their loss our gain (maybe......)

When football clubs get into financial difficulties I almost always have sympathy for the fans.
Not for Bury, ever again.
Remember the song and dance when they were splashing the money around and had leased Carrington? We told them then, and we were right.

Steve Dale was appointed as a Director of Bury on 7th December 2018. Just like Shrewsbury, Bury now only has 2 directors. 17 days later he set up CJD Hollingworth Ltd, a property management Company. beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11739736He's also a Director of Bury FC Leisure Ltd and Bury FC Heritage Ltd, in both cases being the only Director. Mr Dale's only other active Company, Terrapin Ltd, has an interesting history, having almost been struck off on 5 occasions and with accounts nearly 2 years overdue. Once again, Dale is the only Director. beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08131233Terrapin Ltd is involved in the development of building projects.

I'm certainly on the case of Mr Steve Dale. Appears from nowhere, is in the same game as the outgoing Chairman Stewart Day (property management and development of building projects), and yet generally speaking seems to be exempt from much criticism by Bury fans.

Meanwhile Stewart Day's Company Mederco and 3 other Companies associated with it have gone into administration, with unsecured creditors getting nothing. beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07694794/filing-historyRead the administrator's report. The bit about the leasing of car park spaces at Bury F.C. is particularly interesting.

Agree... a champagne taste, lemonade pocket club if there was one. Another one I haven't got much sympathy for is Notts County. Decent away trip, but the amount of dick-swinging by some of their fans during the Munto group era was nigh-on unbearable. I think by now us peasants were supposed to have been left behind whilst they won the Premier League, beat Barcelona in the champions league final... oh, and be bigger than Forest.

Worth remembering that he withdrew his offer to buy Widnes Vikings when Halton Council refused to sell the stadium to him at the same time. As a Widnes fan, I am 100% in the "we dodged a bullet" camp.

I quite enjoyed Kopthis’ contribution to this board to be honest. It kept things interesting to be fair, and took our minds off our own failings a little. A bit like notorious but at League level rather than forever non league.

A bit like notorious but at League level rather than forever non league. There was a Bradford City fan who used to come on this board lording it up, I wonder what happened to him? Another big club at the wrong end of the football league.
