Two poor teams. Our team last season would have beaten both with ease Just remind me how poor we were against Lincoln again......!

Its not an ideal competition how it’s currently run but I doubt it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Not as long people continue to pour money into its coffers in their thousands. Anybody that attends a Checkatrade Trophy game is a scab. End of. what have you actually done about it apart from moan from the comfort of your own home ?

Anybody that attends a Checkatrade Trophy game is a scab. End of. 85,000 fans of Sunderland and Portsmouth would disagree with you. Wembley 90% full for the tournament, I’m sure Checatrade are more than happy with that. Own opinions are welcome but you need to realise that not everyone will agree with you.

I wonder if Sunderland will do a Shrewsbury Town?

Out of interest, who officially created this ‘boycott’ and why not just boycott against the B teams? I’ll admit myself I never want to attend a STFC competitive first team game against a B side and would have been horrendous had Chelsea B reached the final last season and not sure if I could have brought myself to have gone but all this ‘scab’ calling is just getting laughable now. The ‘B’ team inclusion has created one or two imbalanced derbies this season too with Stoke B going to Vale and likewise with Newcastle B at Sunderland, I think both games were quite well attended too which is a shame, but I hope the EFL see sense soon regardless of 85k being at the final this season or not, maybe a change of CEO will help change matters but as long as the prize money is dangled in the club’s faces on condition these teams are allowed in then it probably won’t change for the foreseeable future, boycott or no boycott.

I have no time for people calling fellow fans Scabs for supporting their club.
Its a difference of opinion as far as Check a Trade is concerned.
Grow up and move on folks

Looks like Pompey’s keeper did well . Think I’ve heard of him before ! He would have been our keeper this season, but allowed his head to be turned by the lure of money.😖

Grow up and move on folks I still remember Londonshrew75 saying after the final last season that he was glad all his fellow Salopians who had travelled to Wembley endured another defeat at the national stadium and that ‘we all deserved it’. I’m all for kicking B teams out of the Checkatrade Trophy but disrespecting and wishing ill on fellow Salopians doesn’t go down well with me I’m afraid.

More than just a hint. That said it struck me yesterday, that neither of these massive clubs managed to beat us on their own grounds, and we could yet be playing one or both of them next season, along with Ipswich.

One thing that struck me watching breakfast news this morning, was how AMAZED they were that two teams from all the way down in League 1 could muster 85,000 fans between them.
Both sides are huge clubs with big fan-bases. Both have been in the Premier League fairly recently and both have a history that includes winning major trophies.
I swear the mainstream media have the impression of non-Premier League or Championship supporters consisting of a couple of hundred face-painted eccentrics, huddled in a tin-shed

Not only that, as far as I am concerned, he was treated badly by us being used in the rounds and then dropped for the final. We wouldn’t guarantee him first spot at least to start with this season either. I don’t blame him one jot for moving for whatever reason. Unlike some of his colleagues and manager from last season he has forged himself an extremely successful career now and blooming good luck to him for that. I begrudge him nothing except for having an excellent game against us!

Everyone is entitled to choose whether or not to attend any STFC match, but why do some feel entitled to criticise others for doing just that?

While I share the unease about this competition I think it’s OK to acknowledge that an attendance of 80,000+ for a game between two 3rd tier clubs is remarkable and something that could only happen in this country.

I went to the final on Sunday as a guest. Like last year I was in hospitality as I have a mate who uses Checkatrade for his business and is cheeky enough to ring them up and ask for complimentary tickets. As a neutral I enjoyed it tremendously, the atmosphere was fabulous, the football engaging and I thought it was a great display for 3rd tier football. None of the Black Cats or Pompey fans appeared to have any issue with the competition and were just delighted to have the opportunity to witness their club at Wembley and give them whole hearted support before, during and after the game. Having watched last years feeble effort from Salop I was more than made up for both clubs. I had a slight bias towards Portsmouth because of the 'keeper connection and I got to bump fists and congratulate Craig on his way down from collecting the trophy. Made up for him, strong save to win the game.

Bigger club...…. Yes. Better club...…. Absolutely NOT. We are a fantastic little club with thousands of ' extremely loyal' supporters whatever the situation. That's why some of us on this site get very passionate about what goes on at the club. COYB
