Hello Inspector. Just to update you. Ben Stokes was wicket less again today. Care to comment laddy? We need to have our premier strike bowlers in the team, those who can be relied on to break a partnership if someone like Shaun Marsh, Michael Bevan or Steve Smith is pootling along nicely. Stokes is a big game player, no valid conclusions can be drawn from a few looseners sent down in a cranberry sauce series against Pakistan or Ireland. Let's hope that he excels at the world cup. He's going to be an automatic choice in the ODI team come what may, primarily as a batsman at the moment.

Another w/e without any County cricket !!! (except for Derbyshire v Glamorgan). The ECB really have shot themselves in the foot. Why on earth didn't they stagger the four day games so that if a fan's team wasn't playing, at least he could go and watch a game in the adjoining County for instance ?? Agreed. Worcester's key game against Lancashire at Old Trafford starts on Monday. Just as well I've retired! Could all be over in 2 days... Worcestershire have had a terrible start... Currently watching on the live stream.

Hampshire playing over on the Isle of Wight.
Always good to see counties taking games out on the road.

172 all out is a hell of a lot better than 38/7!
Anderson 5/25.

Lancs 88/5.
Worcs are at least back in the game.

172 all out is a hell of a lot better than 38/7! Anderson 5/25. I had a day at OT yesterday. Worcs let off the hook as Lancs change bowlers not in the class of Anderson and Onions who were virtually unplayable. Very good knock from Parnell with good support from Leach and the other tail enders. Parnell also the pick of Worcs bowlers, don’t know why the bowlers were on top, it was a warm sunny day so it must be something in the pitch - hard to see what the ball is doing from sitting at fine leg. Hameed looked good, sorry to see him get out after getting a start. Livingstone aggressive and could be key today. I can’t go as sitting for hours does my back in, but it will be an interesting day. Sadly neither side has a spinner, so we had a day of medium pacers. OK. when a master like Anderson is on but boring when it’s the journeymen trundlers. I’d change the rules to make 15 overs a day of spin compulsory.

Crucial 1st session today. If we allow Livingstone, Croft and Vilas to take the game away from us and establish a big 1st innings lead then we are in big trouble.

Worcs 149/9. 120 ahead with numbers 10 and 11 at the wicket.
Pretty dismal outlook.

I was amused at OT to hear the announcement, "Jimmy Anderson will bowl from the James Anderson end".
I wonder how many active sportsmen have played where a stadium, or a part of it, is dedicated to them?

Hampshire play Somerset in the 50 over final at Lords today.
Meanwhile, England are playing Australia in a one day friendly at..The Rose Bowl, Hampshire. Unsurprisingly, hardly anyone there. Another ECB Foul up.
The last one day final. And it's being played in May! Lords far from full either.

James Vince should be playing for Hants today in this showcase final. Instead he's playing in a 15 a side friendly.
That can't be right.

First game England play in ages on a pitch that isn’t perfect and flat and they lose. Last time it happened in Windies iirc when it bounced and they got clobbered!

I’m on holiday at the moment and weirdly just bumped into Brad Hogg, totally out of the blue! Had a good chat about the World Cup!

Last ever Lords 50 over Final on Saturday, with Hampshire missing 2 of their players because of England commitments. From next year the competition is reclassified as 'developmental' and the Counties best players will be playing in concrete bowls for a nonsense competition called 'The Hundred'. This article more or less sums up the helplessness cricket fans feel as the ECB slowly destroys the game:- www.thecricketer.com/Topics/banner/list_a_cricket_finals_goodbye_lords_leaves_bitter_taste.html

England don’t like their players playing in knockout games. Years gone by the likes of Stokes has had chances to play in a final yet instead is playing with 22 people watching at Glamorgan - probably not allowed to bowl.

We are seeing the slow demise of the county game and sadly the alleged guardians of our game are more than happy to sit back and let it happen. Very worrying because once it's gone it will be hard to get it back. Just an endless monotonous diet of white ball cricket, no thanks.

An outground at Colwyn Bay, a deckchair, A burger van, a bar, no music, parking right by the ground, and a proper County game played by 2 teams in white. That will do for me.

Cripes - Windies are gonna take some scalps.
Aus look like they lack power hitting. NZ the same but both have quality attacks. India start too slow but Dhoni is in form and they look like they have their XI sorted. Eng will destroy anyone on a perfect pitch but if it’s not will get walloped. SA lack power and spinners not too great? Pakistan panicked and picked their 2 s**te bowlers. I hope they pitches and conditions are utter crap all summer otherwise I could genuinely see a Windies vs England final.
