Sacked at Southend. Let's hope we get a better result than the one we had when Hill was sacked at Rochdale.

That's all we need ahead of Saturday ๐
No doubt the Southend players will now lift their game come Saturday.

What the heck is going on! Last year, managers were leaving clubs after they played us, this year they are leaving before they play us! How the hell can we get rid of SR if we can't play ourselves! Can we ask Roland to arrange a behind closed doors friendly between two of our teams so SR can leave before the game! Aaaaah, wishful thinking!

I can see Darren Way has also gone from Yeovil. The sack race is again picking up as chairman and boards are getting twitchy.

How many is that now this season where they've sacked a manager just before playing us?

Lewis Cox has just tweeted that Paul Hurst - yes, him - is odds-on favourite to replace Powell.

Didn't we go up against Bristol after they'd just made a change? Dale for sure. Now Southend and Sunny on the bounce. Someone must have seen our performance up at Spotland...

BBC Essex correspondent says that the new manager will need a miracle to keep the shrimpers up! Obviously hasn't seen us lately!

This is a Tweet fro โkickitout75โ seems strange to say heโs been sacked because heโs black.. sort of more racist thinking he should keep his job because heโs black ......
What a disgusting decision. Why is it that black managers are treated so appallingly. That's now Chris Powell and Darren Moore fired within a week? How many black managers are left?? Once again a brilliant black manager is forced out by racist fans through the colour of skin.
HOW DID WE GET ON INOUR FIRST GAME UNDER Ricketts? Don't remember a new manager bounce...

HOW DID WE GET ON INOUR FIRST GAME UNDER Ricketts? Don't remember a new manager bounce... People pulling the race card are making it harder for black managers in my opinion. Was he sacked because he was black? No, because they were on a s**t run. Was Moore sacked because he was black? No, because they're no top 2 with the best squad in the league and top 2 was the remit. 6 points since he's left justifies that decision.

Surprised Sc***horpe didn't go for Hurst instead of a caretaker appointment. Wouldn't want him back here but he has proved himself at this level. Bradford would have been ideal for him in every way. Southend is a long way from his Sheffield home and not a very progressive club. Fail there and where does he go with his career. Plenty of time this week to get him in before Saturdays game and for our great away support to prepare some appropriate chants.

Cannot see PH taking the Southend job, at least not until the Summer, he would be on a hiding to nothing if he moved in now !!

Doubt he'll take anything before the summer, plus he doesn't need to. Wouldn't mind betting he already has something lined up. Decent manager at this level.

Can't see Bowyer staying if Bradford are relegated. PH could take over then.

Hurst is placed high up in bookies odd for the Sc***horpe, Southend and Yeovil jobs.
Recent experience should tell us that this means bugger all in the scheme of things.

What a shame, I like Powell. Always seems a decent fella.
I don't believe in the so-called new manager bounce - sure I saw some research had been done a year or two ago that showed it was a myth.

Might be in general, but it does seem to work against Town regularly enough. Its a bit like the fact that we always play dire against the teams with the worst form

we sure as hell cant afford to lose v sarfend, or i suspect a bit of finger wagging directed at the dugout might be called for.

Hurst has drifted out to around 20/1 for the Southend job now. Adam Barrett is the new odds on favourite.
