Anyone traveling by train on Saturday?
I’m going from central London and google maps suggests jubilee line to west ham and c2c from there. Any different opinions or advice?

In my opinion if you’re going to Prittlewell you’re best off getting the train from Stratford International. If you’re being a total lad or ladette and going to Southend Central you’re best off getting the train from Fenchurch Street (or West Ham a few stops down the line). This is according to my evidence file on Southend and an annotated signed photograph of Maigret.

I am in London on Friday night, so getting train on Saturday morning
The line to Prittlrwell is out of action for the weekend, so it looks like Fenchurch Street to Southend Central, which also stops at West Ham, so whichever is easier. I will be getting tube from Earls Court to Tower Hill, for Fenchurch Street. 11.02 getting in 11.56 looks likely. Just need Martin Berry to tell me which pub to aim for then
Edit. I could stay on my District Line tube all the way to Upminster and save a couple of quid. Need to check times and getting back to Marylebone after match

Talking to the Real Ale drinkers at work, these are teh places they would recommend
The Last Post (Wetherspoons right outside London bound entrance to Southend Central Station) Craftwerk Beers, Alexandra Street, (New MicroPub, looks quite expensive)Opens at 12 noon Westroad Tap, 2 West Street, Westcliff (Micro pub)Opens at 12 noon
The Olde Trout, 56 London Road (opposite Sainsbury's), although beer selection wasn't great when I put my head in last week. I try to have a look today.
If you want to go off teh beaten track you have Mawson's Micropub 781 Southchurch Road, but you will be wasting drinking time getting there, but it is a 7 minute walk from Southend East station. Again opens at 12

Craftwerk Beers as the prices and name suggests is "Craft" beer only - No Real Ale

They struggle to even venture into Wales at times 😕
