Was too hacked to write anything yesterday. We just gifted the game to Rochdale with sunday league defending. The first was bad, the second was possibly even worse. You knew about five minutes before he took the free kick what was going to happen but our lot were still in the dressing room.
I can cope with us being crap (lets face it we've seen a lot worse over the years - remember the Jake King era) but the half arsed nature of the defeat, the lack of character and identity (which has been a problem all season) with this team are even more worrying. I still don't get what Ricketts is trying to do and neither, it seems, do the players. Whalley is our most creative player and he's playing wing back ffs & rotating the sub goalkeepers - how odd is that? Bet Mitchell was exhausted after his 15 mins last week. The midfield which ought to be our strongest element always seems to deliver less than the sum of its parts & why are smashing the ball at chest/head height to our two forwards who need it on the ground? & then there's the Waterfall problem again - (he should have been sent off yesterday) - underrated my arse. Yes he's great in the air, trouble is he's got two left feet. He may cause problems when we get set pieces but he also causes problems in our own box. I think I've seen enough of Arnold now to suggest he should never be a no.1. in a L1 team. It seems he does everything in slow motion.
Anyway, apart from that it was excellent day out, the highlight being the pub singer at half time and also sex pistols getting an airing - can't imagine Roland allowing this at the meadow.

Don’t forget the great chippys over the road. The fish and chips were my highlight and for some unknown reason I knew they would be before I even got there!!!

The Church was a great pub near the Rochdale ground. I've not been up there to a game for a while and I believe it's now closed?

The curse of Rochdale continues!! And may continue to do so. They are also bad enough to drop into Division 2.

it is interesting to hear that as part of his Pro license coaching badge with the Welsh FA  he has spent time with the rugby team. John Herdman the head coach for the canadian mens national team who transformed the canadian womens team, felt that the FA coaching system was not broad enough and did not give the skills new managers need, after completing his FA coaching qualification ,he went to learn how a different sports maximise performances, mentally and physically. "Herdman's philosophy is built around "four pillars" — physical, technical/tactical, mental and social/emotional. There's a lot more to winning a soccer tournament than just putting the ball in the back of the net, in Herdman's mind." www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/john-herdman-canada-soccer-men-1.4479791That may answer the conundrum about where to play Beccles - scrum half maybe?
