1979. Wolves away in the FA Cup quarter final. I got my ticket for the home end as I lived 2 miles from Molly Knew at the time. I could also do a passable Woolverampton accent. I went with an oppo of mine who was a Doncaster Rovers fan. Brilliant Juan Juan draw. After the game, we got back into the owd Austin 1100 for the trip home. We only got a hundred yards before being caught up in traffic. Although I do that passable Woolverampton accent, my Salop scarf on the back seat couldn't do a chameleon and change colour to old gold and black. The Wolves troglodytes crossing the ring road took great pleasure in customising the 1100's bodywork.
You got any memories?

sadly my main memory of the away game was the chap sitting directly in front of me dying of a heart attack didn't know he had died until the Monday but it didn't look good and shook me up as I was only 10

That friendly late 90s was it when they were in the Wakeman End and got marched past the Riverside on route to the Station End.
Not WMPs finest moment.

The replay in 1979 was the only game in over 50 years where I left early.
So disappointing after the 1-1 draw at Molyneux.

I was working so missed the match. I was totally shocked, I really expected to win.

Wolves fans who were part way round when being escorted to the Station end jumped into the Riverside, by us. As the police closed in on them be dropped a Knuckle duster at my feet. I gave it to the police

That was very kind of you, but I think police still used batons at that stage.

I gave it to the police 2001 I think. It was really surreal being stood in the middle of it all. Somehow I managed to avoid being hit, I think they were more interested in getting to the back of the Riverside where they had been doing the boing boing baggies song a couple of minutes before.

I saw nothing of the '79 game at Wolves, being 10 and stuck behind tall blokes. I saw the 3-1 defeat in the replay all too well.
I remember beating them 2-1 at home in the early 80s when they were in their second season of successive relegations. Tommy Docherty moaned about how only one team tried to play football (them).
I felt we were hard done by when they beat us 1-0 a few seasons ago, and we missed an absolute sitter at theirs later in the season.
So, only seen one win...

I'm a bit in limbo here, because I used to follow wolves a lot in late sixties and seventies, in between watching Shrewsbury a lot as well.obviously my first love is Salop, but still got a soft spot for the wolves. regarding the games in 79,i remember them very well.done great at molineux, but they were a bit to strong for us at the meadow. think there was 16000 at the replay, and remember queuing for tickets over the English bridge----those were the days my friends

Yea I used to go with mates to watch the Wolves if Salop were away. I didn't feel too much of a traitor, because we usually got in for 10 woodbines through a side gate into the North Bank. When Wolves attacked there used to be a surge forwards from the back. You had to join in or be trampled underfoot.
I'll bet some of the older blokes hadn't moved that fast since their honeymoon.

There was a photo in the Star, but I am not sure if I can find it now

Remember the dust bin being thrown into the crowd and seem to remember a pram....
Also left by coach which had all the windows put in meaning a cold breezy drive back... Those were the days

Getting spanked 6-1 or 6-2 at their place in League Cup. My first away game, think it was early 90’s, maybe 91-92. Weird ground back then.

It was 6 - 1. We had already sold tickets for the second leg at home. I couldn't get us the seats we wanted, but having lost 6 - 1, I couldn't see the point in having designated seats, so I rang the club to ask if we could sit where we liked. The phone was answered by the charming club secretary, Mr Starkey, who makes the unsmiling lady sound like the laughing policeman.

I was at the 6-1 League Cup game. That was when their ground was a mess and the South Bank was split in two. We had a decent following that night from what recall. Didn't start out too bad from what I recall but then things went tits up big time...

I was in the Northbank in 79 I had spent a cold morning waiting for tickets just got to the narrows when they said sold out so my uncle from Wolverhampton got us tickets. I was only 14 and stud with my dad on the Northbank with town scalf under my coat messing myself. (looking back it was the safest place to be) I remember when we score i lost it and clapped then noticed loads round me pulling scarves out and going mad so it worked out ok. Seam to remember getting our chairs and flasks before going straight to the Meadow to join a queue on the english bridge for return match tickets. Still the biggest home crowd i've ever been in.

Being too young for the 70's/80's, my memories of games are simply Curtis Main & Tom Eaves, Main in particular

being hit by dustbins being thrown over a brick wall when leaving the ground! Yes, coming out of the South Bank at the end of the game was a pretty scary experience. I also remember the train home to Shrewsbury and the sound of stones, bricks whatever they were hitting it as it went under railway bridges on it's way out of Wolverhampton.

Beating them when they were rubbish and going down the leagues in the 80's.
Main memory of the 6-1 is Bull doing Ken Hughes.

I used to play footy with a lad who's footy claim to fame was he scored towns only goal at molinuex in a 1-0 win
for town reserves, a lot of you will know Darren hunting, former apprentice, didn't quite make the 1st team but says he was 14th man once back when we could have just 2 subs
