Doesn't surprise me.
With Gnahoua also shown the door today, that just leaves Loft and Jones to clear out.

F*** that.
Just when we finally seemed to be coming round to 3-5-2, we lose the best player for the right wing back slot because we've persisted too long with an ineffective midfield diamond.
Our loss.

This was one I wasn't expecting. Leaves us a bit short of cover at the back

Can’t see James Tavernier coming back to replace him myself. Think that ship has long since sailed.

Rather short on cover for the back four now. Beckles the only cover for centre back and left back and Sears the only cover for right back. Having signed Smith, a new defender must surely be Ricketts next priority now.

I thought he was more than decent enough at this level and did OK for us but I suppose for Ipswich it's all about getting him playing time which he ain't going to get unless injuries come about, a bit of a down side with the loans I guess. For Ipswich he might as well be sat on their bench as ours...

James Bolton is a better player.
Emmanuel did well but it was a bit pointless signing him with Bolton already there.

Josh Emmanuel has been recalled from his loan stay at Shrewsbury.
The 21-year-old defender made 20 appearances for the League One club, having joined them in August.
The Academy graduate, who has 24 games under his belt for Town, has been training at Playford Road this week and is now available for Blues.

Shades of excellence. But certainly never looked like the monster that came down to the meadow with that thuggish Rotherham team last season and the unspeakable event that place in May.
Frees up another loan slot and I am happy Sears moves up for consideration.

It’s been on the cards ever since he was dropped, ironically, having been one of the few to come out with any credit away at Wycombe.
Certainly a player there, probably at wing back. The gaps he would leave behind him in a 4 man defence were probably too problematic for most managers & Bolton is a safer bet in that regard. Emmanuel streets ahead technically though and bound to be a solid League One player soon enough - probably for Ipswich.

James Bolton is a better player. Emmanuel did well but it was a bit pointless signing him with Bolton already there. Emmanuel is the better player in my opinion, better 1v1 and better getting forward. His delivery into the box was also better. Could of done well in a 3-5-2. Not a pointless signing at all.

Agree completely. We could have got him ready for Ipswich in League 1 next season!

That’s fair. Bolton showed he is a good RB at this level last season and I just felt that it was very harsh to drop him for Emmanuel. I would have preferred the wages to go to other areas of that team where we were short. I do agree with you on 3-5-2. Bolton as one of the CB’s with Emmanuel as a RWB could have been good.
