mutual consent= the polite way of getting sacked most of the time, sounds this may have been slightly different.
"As I had said previously, I had no intention of sacking David this season. Subsequently David - being the great man he is - came to us and made it clear that he needs a break from the rigours of football management.
"We discussed making that change immediately, but he also made it clear that he would give his all for the rest of this season before departing in the summer if we preferred.
"After a long discussion we all felt that David staying at the club until the end of the season was best, but we've kept discussions open and we all now feel that the time is right to part ways.
"I know the term 'mutual consent' is often a byword for the manager being sacked in professional football, but this is a truly joint decision. David has a real, genuine love for this club and, like me, his foremost concern in our talks has been to establish what is best for Huddersfield Town."

He did a fantastic job firstly to get them into the Premier League and then to keep them there. I'm glad in a way that it's ended amicably before things got even worse. Hopefully the Huddersfield fans will remember him for what he achieved rather than the results in the last three or four months.

I know we wanted to get someone in place for the January window, and fans where getting anxious too, but would he have fancied a fresh challenge with us if we had strung DC out until now? Suppose he would have been out of our price range though.

Why I respect Burnley so much. Eh? Because Huddersfield parted ways with Wagner amicably?

I don't understand this. If they get relegated one of the best coaches to get them out of the championship is him. Even if it takes a yoyo period like Dyche had at Burnley. It just makes no sense. They can't stay up. And another gravy train manager won't cut it in the championship

No, because they went up with Dyche, kept him when they went down, then went back up with him and established firmly as a PL force.

They can't stay up. And another gravy train manager won't cut it in the championship I’d agree, except that their chairman says Wagner wanted to go sooner. Can’t be sure without hearing Wagner’s side of it but, on the face of it, this was genuinely a mutual decision.
