Yesterday the players seemed confused where they should be playing. Instructions kept on coming from the bench and rather just concentrate on playing, players were constantly being distracted. We need to go back to basics and keep it simple.

Agree, not sure what Ricketts was trying to do. To be fair it wasn't just the players that were confused. I for one had no idea what the plan was.

Askey stood there hands in pockets and said nothing - criticised.
Ricketts bellows out instructions and chats to players during the game - criticised.
He’s clearly very clear about what he wants the players to do, and it’s equally very clear they seem incapable of doing it. We had an offside after 10 seconds yesterday ffs. Still p**sed off about yesterday’s performance.

It’s the formation for me. Full backs have nobody to pass to, midfielders look wide and nobody there, were predictable and slow. I admit I’m a big fan of wingers in general so my views may be affected by how I like to watch the game as a fan, but I feel like we’re really easy to contain in this formation.

If he is playing this formation because of what's available to him, then put Beckles back to left back and play Haynes left side of the midfield four? Not ideal, but at least there will be some shape to the side. One of the first things Ricketts quoted was "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Ok so I get your going to want to put your own stamp on things, but we were never going to get into the play offs so he could have taken stock and had a really good look where we stood. Now the players are confused so what do we do ? The only plus side about yesterday was Charlton ain't bad.

The two short corners (1 in each half) basic beyond belief.

The two short corners (1 in each half) basic beyond belief. Unforgivable.

Rickets said early on that he wanted the players to move seemlessly from one system to another and that it would take time. Before that, I recall Coyne saying he wanted the players to go out and enjoy their football again. Quite a simple philosophy but it worked for our players. Rickets seems to be very innovative tactically (Sunderland and Stoke formations) but should remember he's dealing with lower league players not top flight internationals. We looked disjointed and confused yesterday and the confidence drained away alarmingly in the 2nd half and we lost all belief and fight. The players are not buying into the philosophy and Rickets needs to get back to basics quickly.

I'd forgotten about those, laughable really. I'm also pretty sure that Holloway was caught offside from a free kick which was taken by Arnold in the first half, talking basics here

Correct, he was also offside 10 seconds into the game.
