Goalkeeper- we need a first choice keeper. Arnold will suffice as a back up, but I don’t see him as a long term number 1
Defence- definitely need another centre back. One of, if not both, need removing from the team. Beckles deserves a go at his natural position. I think we’re actually ok at both full back positions. They just need help from our non existent wingers.
Midfield- aaahhh, the midfield!!! I’d say we have more than enough central midfielders!!! We just don’t need to play them all at the same time (note to SR!). But where are the wide men?? We have Whalley, Eisa and Gilliead!! This needs addressing asap, as Whalley is currently injured, Eisa & Gilliead look too inexperienced and lightweight, and we are desperate for some width!!
Forwards- We’ve seen the last of Lenny in a Town shirt. Angol needs to be the Angol of pre baby or get rid. Holloway isn’t up to it. And Fej can’t do it on his own!! Another position that needs addressing!!
So by my reckoning, we need:
1 x goalkeeper 1 x centre back 2 x wingers 1 x striker 1 x ditching a diamond formation!!
Ricketts certainly has his work cut out, and quick!! I just wonder what funds he will be given to do it?? Our summer recruitment is turning out to be an expensive mess of imbalance!!

What is wrong with Arnold? He saved us from a thrashing today and has been consistent since getting the no.1 slot. Please don't use the lame excuse of poor distribution following the 2 kicks today as it is insignificant compared to the saves made. What are people expecting from league 1 keepers!!!!! This is getting like the "we need a 20 goal striker on loan from planet get a grip of reality land".

A professional footballer that can’t keep the ball on a 55yard wide pitch, whilst under no pressure?? I’m not judging him just on today’s performance. In my opinion, I think he is fine as a back up, but I don’t think he is a long term number 1. McGillivray was a far better keeper than Arnold, yet was only good enough as our back up. It shows how far our standards have dropped.

Yet again a poor knee jerk judgement based on a few insignificant distribution errors, and no other evidence apart from the unarguble comment of he has been poor lately. Macgillvary doesn't play for us anymore does he?

Holloway, I like him.
He tries, but on the bench bring him on.
Shouldn't be starting.
Get Rowe in from Conference.

Steve Arnold was outstanding today. His kicking is normally good but 2 or 3 went out today. He'd clearly been told to keep the ball away from the giant CB's and aim for the touchline. We did this last year and Henderson put a few out as well. He prevented an absolute mauling today so why pick on stuff like that.

Macgillvary doesn't play for us anymore does he? Your point being?? Insignificant distribution errors?? Immediately handing back possession to the opposition and putting us immediately back under pressure. He is a professional. It is his job. Yet he can’t keep the ball between two white lines 55 yards apart?! As for other evidence, there was the 1st and 3rd goals v Wycombe away, the 1st goal v Burton away, definitely the 1st and arguably the 2nd v Peterborough at home, the 1st goal v Accrington away, and if you look back at the highlights, he should be disappointed he hasn’t done better with either of Charlton’s first two today, I certainly would!! Together with the fact that more people on B&A voted that they would rather have Coleman in goal, I dispel your ‘no other evidence’ comment.

In your opinion it seems and of course the miģhty opinion of B & A that make up 1% or less that go to the games. How many poor passes and missed goal scoring opportunities have you counted against other team members that could render them not worthy.

Dread to think how much we spent of that 600,000 on the forward line but that appears to be have been a complete waste.

Similar thoughts to the O/P@
Keeper - Arnold isnt terrible and he saved us from a hammering yesterday but there's a reason why he's 29 and the majority of his appearances have been in non league. Defintley an area for improvement
Defence - Waterfall sums the defence up. If the opposition just aimlessly lump it forward and they have big target men then we will be ok, however if they have intelligant pacey strikers then we struggle. Waterfall failing to clear the ball for the second goal (and doing something similar a few minutes later) was schoolboy like
Midfield - On paper this is where we have the most quality, the problem is like England during the 'golden generation' where we try to play all of our best players, rather than the best team. It's clear that the diamond isnt working, a 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 is the best formation to play with the current personnel
Attack - Frankly our attacking options are embarrasing, can't really say any more than that.
This is a huge transfe window for both Ricketts and Roland, both of them must see we are a team low on confidence and with a lack of quality in key areas, the question is whether Roland willing to spend considering the money wasted in the summer. As for Ricketts, I was hoping he would have a number of contacts with him only recently retiring, obbviously theres still time but the signing of a keeper we deemed not good enough in the summer is hardly a promising development.
